ouch

I got killed (my car too)

I went to run this punk in a 5.0 wearing a bandana revving his motor next to me at a stoplight. I revved to sound off the blow off valve and we gunned it from the stoplight. Well the headgasket went and the piston rings fried, a ton of white smoke and some mustang tail lights later my car is screwed. I can still drive it but not too well.

So now I'm waiting for the total seal rings and greddy head gasket to settle in hoping to see that 5 point slow at a light again in the near future.

What setup are you running?

Here's a list of engine mods..

D16 SOHC Vtec Motor
Greddy Turbo Kit
Greddy FCU
Greddy Turbo Timer
Apexi Twin chamber BOV
Aem Fuel rail
BBK Fuel pump
Venom injectors
B&M fuel flow modifier
timing fiddled with for better bottom end (until the turbo spools)
2.5" exhaust from cat back with a catco race cat
2" downpipe

Now it has a Greddy 2mm head gasket, total seal rings, arp head studs and a VAFC (vafc is going in this weekend)

how much hp does ur car have?
a stock 5.0 has 225 and 285 torque...
i dunno how much extra power u r gonna get with the turbo and you don't know if his car is stock. i raced a del sol w/ turbo when i had my 95 gt 5.0 and gave him a head start and killed him.

I burned a cobra about a week before this incident. It wasn't one of the newer Cobras but I still spanked him. The car was pushing 205hp last time it was dynoed. Now that I've strengthened things up a bit the boost will be doubled. I'm hoping for around 240-250hp once everything seats and is tuned.

Haven't ran it in the 1/4 yet. I was going to take it to the track last weekend but had these motor problems. As soon as the rings seat I will run it and post times.

93 cobra is almost as fast as a 96-98 stock. 93s should do 14.0's.
240 hp. looks to be the same as you. and it will definitly have more torque.

Not bad. Gotta watch those 5.0's though. It doesn't take much to make them quick.

Yes, it will have more torque. But think about the torque/hp to weight ratio. You are talking a two seater del sol vs. a big ass mustang. 240hp in a del sol is like having 400hp in a mustang that is weighing in about 1000-1300lbs more then a del sol.

nope. 87-93 GTs had 225 hp and 285 tq.
the 1st year 93 cobra is rated at 235-240 hp, though it really has 260 and 225 to the wheels. in 94 and 95 the 5.0's were rated at 215, but they do have the same 225 as the fox body 5.0s (190 range to the rear wheels).

btw, 93 cobras arent very heavy. i doubt your car weighs 1000 lbs less. 93s weigh around 3300 lbs.

I drive a del sol, tiny little two seater with nothing to it. The car is gutted. Bumpers supports are gone, A/C is gone, power steering setup is gone, lighter wheels, lighter seats, all interior insulation is gone. I figure I shaved about 150-200 lbs easy off the stock weight of the car.

And yes I have smoked one M3 and a coupla vettes... I smoked an M3 before I even put a turbo on my car.

Like I said last dyno was pushing 205hp, don't remember the torque rating, I'll look for the dyno slip in a few. With the new setup and boost turned up I'm hoping for 240-250hp, and that is pretty damn good for a Single cam motor. I was going to swap in a DOHC engine, but decided I wanted a SOHC DOHC eater. I want to be a bit different.

They were older style vettes, like late 80's early 90's. I actually took two of them. Both Automatics though (might have had something to do with me getting a good jump on em)

I live in West Chicago, about 30 minutes from downtown. Right near Naperville and Wheaton.

I know what you mean about the BS, I may BS around sometimes but not when it comes to my car. Now to get my MKII jetta up to speed with my del sol.

Well, pulling motor apart again. Decided to throw in some low compression pistons from Arias. I figured I might as well beef things up before cranking boost even higher. Also some crower rods...

Well considering my throttle body gasket and intake manifold gasket were special order items I won't be able to finish this job until early next week. I guess the parts will be here Tuesday.

I got my ARP studs and 2mm Greddy head gasket today though.

ive posted this before, and ill post it again. everyone says accords are sooo heavy. and they're right if they're talking about the newest ones. but my 94 (94-97) weighs 2,800 pounds. ive had it less than that with the spare and seats out. i know because ive weighed it at a truck weigh station near my house.
when nearly all new cars are over 3000 pounds, i wouldnt call the accord rreeally heavy.
