dude, even the honda lovers are tellin you to get a mustang.
seriously.. you want a fast car that will **** up all those imports for wayyyyy cheaper get yourself a 96-98 cobra or an 88-92 mustang LX 5.0 (87 no Mass air and 93 power decrease). those right there are your best bets for the cheapest. 94-98 GT's are pretty pathetic. sure theyll wipe out all your non turbo imports liek nothing but they suck. dont get me wrong.. u can make basically any mustang run 10's with the right transmission, forged internals and a big blower. as for imports... the wrx may be the best bet... still though... not enough potential. youll be stuck in the 12's with over 5k invested. seriously imports are not where it's at for speed.

SVT has a point, you will get more performance for your dollar if you get a mustang.

But what do you really want?

A: a car that is fast, but ugly and unreliable (the ugly part is just my opinion).

B: a car that will cost much more to make fast, but looks great (fact - j/k), is extrememly reliable, gets great gass milage.

Its your choice, and you should do what you want, not what others say to get.

gas mileage isnt a concern when you're running 11's or lower. pretty sure mpg sucks no matter what. and all the turbo and n20 youll need to break 13's. honestly the wrx is about the same on gas as my cobra with 4.10 gears.

if your worried about gas milage, any car with some type of performance will suck. i get 22mpg if im REALLY lucky. normaly im around 19 or 20 and i dont drive hard on my car at all. new... i'd say a 350z or g35 coupe. maybe a evo8. if your going new/used i'd say a 5spd is300 or maybe a late 90's supra TT. if you have to keep the price down, then a late 90's GSX or maybe a z32 twin turbo(90-96 300zx). if your thinking of domestic, a cobra or a ws6 would own. they handle alot better than people give them

Do you want "potential" or "performance"? I mean, an STi or Evo would be nice but it's probably tuned well enough that it wouldn't be much of a project car. Same with a sportbike - what potential does that have?

If we're talking new car what's your price range? Impreza 2.5? Miata? RX-8? 350Z? S2000? NSX?

ANY FAST car is not reliable. you want to run 11s and 10s there is not much reliability and shouldnt be driven everyday anyway.

I drive my dads gen1 taslon tsi....I like it, but i can tell the engine and turbo are getting very beat up...theres' prolly 165K on'em but i can definately see the potential of a newer engine being rebuilt. but 1991 isn't exactly new. I'm going for a 240SX when i get the money to do it.

I can't say i have ever really looked at newer cars. I could see driving the 350Z...new BMW m/3 series...

A point i forgot to mention - gas milage will suffer each time you modify your car (unless u just do an air filter, but who does that and doesnt get bit by the performance bug?).

Any high performance car is going to cost you a bunch for insurance.. BMW, Lexus, Mercedes.. These cars usually cost considerably more for insurance.

A friend bought a '97 BMW 328i, his insurance went up a bunch from the '99 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP (Supercharged one for those of you who dont know.)

If your worried about insurance, you better check first. Because it will go up, and probably a lot more then you would think. Civics are cheap to insure. Thats the price you pay for performance.

a supra TT will rape you, if they even give you insuarance. it will probobly be over 350 a month since if i remeber your only 16. and if you have any tickets... it might not be worth even checking

I dont know anyone that would insure a 16 old in a supra, 300zx,RX-7, or any of these other cars mentioned, if they would the rates would probably be around $6000/year or more. I ave a rather good idea about the insurace biz, since my mother used to sell the stuff.

i must agree with SVT though, a z06 would own. it is my top pick of cars under 50k from a performace standpoint. i would only take a m3 over one for luxory reasons. performance, hands down z06 pqwnz j00

we've already established insurance would be too much, and 400hp out of a supra is kinda weak... they come with 320 stock, and the bottom end can hold almost triple that before needing to be beefed up.
