I wasn't referring to the unreleased "NEW" Si. I was talking about the 2000 Si and using it as a comparison. Like I said in my post, I was comapring apples to apples. Can't compare the "NEW" Si since its not yet released.

145 ft-lb torque. That's pretty impressive. Notice the difference in RPMS for the peak HP and the peak TQ. And how much does the damn thing weigh? They don't have that on their site. And the engine is 393 cc bigger(2.0L vs a 1.6L) than an Si. I would hope that it would produce more power.

So we have the SVT Focus with a 2.0L engine producing 85 HP per Liter and the Si with a 1.6L engine producing 100 HP per liter. And lets not forget the track record Honda has. Their cars last. Its proven. Then there's Ford. I'll leave it at that.

I do like the fact that the SVT Focus comes with 17's. That's a nice feature. Though it still doesn't make the car look any prettier.

Granted, the SVT Focus is HUGE leap for Ford. I don't forsee it "over-taking" Honda though.

Unfortunatly those were the days of the past.. The new (7th Gen) hondas arent near the story the older ones used to be..

The new SI is a 2.0 liter that (unofficially) produces 160 hp and 130 ft.lbs of torque. Which is about the same ratings as the old motor but with more displacement... Not the normal honda we have come to know and love..

Yes, but since its yet to be released (and I personally hope it never gets released), we can't use it as a comparison. Much like everyone keeps saying the Honda V8 will kill any other V8. Its not even in production(I'm talking street cars, not F1).

I agree with you totally.. Its like trying to compare something that is fiction to something that is reality.. Its impossible to do because there is no real evidence to base anything on. I just hope that honda gets smart and puts more power in the new SI if thats really what they are supposed to have. Cause those are some weak number especially since the RSX-S has so much more power the the GSR did.

i dunno about that... i saw a RSX type S consistantly run 15.9, 16.0, 15.8 this weekend.. i wasnt impressed..
another person took his car to the track and he blew his motor on his RSX ALREADY...

Ford is trying to venture into a realm it can;t hang w/ IMO..Indeed the focus is OK looking it's now Honda/Acura by far..

I just think that they want to try and make a domestic to have competition for the imports...

Of course Ford wants to venture into something they dont have an edge on...They are seeing the import scene grow like crazy with the release of the fast and the furious. I just hope their import killers are a hell of a lot better than their domestic killers...im tired of using the phrase...."Ford tuff with Chevy stuff"
I think its a good effort on Ford's part but Ive yet to see one on the road, Fall of 2001 right?? We shall see, ive already seen the regular focus around here with a supercharger and the regular focus' are hitting 9's in the 1/4 with the drag civics...its a good thing that Ford has done...

Let's just put it this way...because Ford came out with such a great import killer other companies like Honda/Acura will be releasing more powerful car such as the RSX Type-R if it ever comes out...Honda's new SI is a big piece if you ask me and the new Eclipse is even worse than the new SI but others like the new Nissan SE-R and the upcoming GT-R (which is rather weak by the way but its coming) Ford is making other car makers around the world put their money where their mouth is and they...It should be quite interesting

When have you seen a "regular" focus run 9's? I dont think a focus that runs 9's has a standard focus motor in them most of them are v6 RWD, or 2.1 litre RWD Cosworth motors .

I think coming on a honda website and trashing civic's is ignorant....but that's just me and what do i know right? I think that we all gotta respect the fact that ford has released a car to compete with everyone else finally. Look at Coling MCrae and his focus. Didn't he kill Mikka a while ago....and doesn't he usually. Ford is doing something cool. And just cause most of us think fords are garbage, and ugly....doesn't mean someone else doesn't think they are dope as hell.
We just gotta respect....that's what we ask...so we have to give it in return.

I do respect Honda's...but right now and that statement that civic_addict made about how he dont care what times they get, they are ugly has NOTHING to do with what kind of damn car you drive. Ok how about we drop this subject!!! I respect many many types of cars. I used to drive a mustang. actually I used to drive 2 mustangs. I don't think they shit....it's called preference...i prefer honda now...and I think the focus is kinda ugly...it's preference. One of my friends drive a 5.0. He HATEs civic's. Fair enough. I can respect that. and the numbers thing. Numbers speak for themselves. Ford is doing good with the focus. NO denying that. But I unno.....what are we argueing about anyway again.??? hahahahaha i'm konfused.

I was just thinking about something. Ford and Honda are running close to the same times. JOJO is running I think like LOW nines and I think his name is Shaun or something is running in his focus mid nines. Those are numbers you can't ignore.

Yeah but the ford motor isnt you typical motor either.. Its either a V6 or a motor from a Cosworth which are sweet motors.. Not to mention the Focus is RWD..

Which is true. Ya gotta remember that honda is doing all this with 4 cylinders. Not 6 or even 8.
I get all this smack talk from 5.0 guys and I can take it. But you have to remember. they have twice as big and twice as many cylinders as me.
My buddie had and escort (mitsubishi engine) GT that used to stomp 5.0

I guess we will see, you cant really judge a car that has only been out for 2 years...also...ANY car if taken proper care of will last a long ass time. My cousins chevy s-10 has 275k miles on it and runs perfect. A friend of mine has a 3000GT VR-4 with 186k miles on it. If you take care of it, it will last

yeah but honda for some reason keeps proving themselves time and time again. Ford kinda has a bad track record. Like I said I have owned 2 mustangs. On those two mustangs I had to replace the electronic ignition 4 times. and I take good ass car of my cars.

I agree that Honda's can take a lot more abuse on them than most cars. They are a good car...Focus will still have to prove themselves. I dont know about Honda but if you hook up a Mitsubishi like im doing I have nothing but problems. But the car will last forever stock or even with all motor upgrades. I put a turbo on mine and it has problem after problem. You turbo Honda's, do you have the same problem??

just thought i should chime in on this steph papadapkis (SP?) aem civic looks extremly good and it has a h23a/vtec(h22 heads) in it wich is a 4 banger. just though i would let you know.

That civic is not a unibody civic. its completly re-done. it doesnt even look like a civic. i mean the apex-i integra looks badass, but there is just one problem. it doesnt look like an integra. =) check out Venom's civic. i believe it unibody and looks like shit.

thats cause venom did no offense to venom users but i heard there stuff is crap but you never said that it had to be unibody you just said honda four banger dragers just messin but all in all ford is just gonna raise the bar w/ the svt focus but i read a pre release review and word that i got was i totally blew!! but if ford can fix it so it dont have all the recalls that the regular focuses have it should be an interesting battle. I would have to agree that the new si is as fugly as the focus. yes the shifter is in dash so to speak "rally inspired" but the beauty is the power curve is alot smother the new I-vtec allows it to engae sooner and flattens the power curve dramaticly (SP?) so you don't have crud for power up to 5200 rpms when vtec kicks in. just thought i would share that info w/ you peeps Oh and the whole reason for basicly mellowing out the new si for now atleast is so the rsx sales dont suffer its a new platform that they are trying to get established in the aftermarket

I thought the AEM civic was unibody. regardless if dragcivics are nice or not. Who cars. Anyone take a look at times lately. Not style. Sure some have krazy paint jobs. That's it though. When have you ever seen a drag car win a beauty contest.

that is true, but being able to drive around with a 9sec car that isnt even opened up is a nice feeling imo

hell owning a fast car is nice who cars how ya get there its the fact that you GOT there ya know what i mean??? right now im modding my ls teg to be a 11-12 sec car daily driven. im getting a new b18b in january and will be turboing it shortly after
