You should be fine unless you actually submerge it. I talked with a guy from AEM awhile ago about this. He has a slammed Civic, and he installed an AEM CAI and forgot to put the splash guard back on afterward. He drove through major rain, and the filter got wet, but there was no damage at all. You just don't want the engine to hydrolock.
