you mean your idle is high in conjunction with this rattle? or does the rattle happen only between 1600-2000?

on my celica, i had to track down this most annoying rattle that I thought was a heat shield. turns on it was the intermediate mount thingy that supports the long axle. Fools didn't put any bolts back that they removed!

You might check for things like this if it is just a vibration. any metal on metal that isn't bolted together is potentially a rattle.
