well it depends on which setup you choose. some come as colover sleeves ( ground control, skunk2, aerospeed, dropzone etc) and require shocks (stock ones can be used). I have the ground control and koni yellow combo, pretty sweet riding, nice handling, a bit cheaper than a full coilover setup.

then there are the full coilover setups like koni, teins, jic majic etc that have the body of the shock threaded and they come with matched springs and struts. these coilovers tend to work better but the previous setup i mentioned can very very good if you choose the parts carefully and good quality.

also coilovers can be just a cosmetic mod or a performance and cosmetic one ( let's face it a dropped car looks damn p!mp), it just depends on how much money you want to invest in suspension. it's all you that calls what you want your suspension to do. i had the car slammed ~3" on my setup and raised to almost stock. it performs the same, just the later one tends to have a bit more body lean.


as for the swaybars and strut bars: no they are not the same. as the guy before me mentioned it the strut bars tend to keep the strut towers equally spaced during hard cornering, and the sway bars apply pressure on the control arms to preven the car from leaning in hard cornering. both are great suspension mods when the road is in good condition, but when you are in a limited traction environment you'd better be carefull, or it can end up in a disaster.

Yeah the neuspeed strut bars are the best IMO ( for the money at least), i do not have any experience with trust (greddy) but they are kinda full of it. for sway bard i'd use the suspension techniques rear sway bar only and use polyurethane bushing polyurethane end links for the front swaybar.
