Any good tires for 14" civic HX alloys??

I know, 14" rims are weak, but I can't afford an upgrade at this time, and I do like the fact that my rims are half the weight of most the 17" I see out on the street.
Anyhow, I need to start looking for a new set of tires for my HX and wanted to ask around for suggestions.
I've had trouble finding street performance tires that will fit my rims.
Since I first bought the car, I've been running on Pirelli P6000 Sport Veloce tires.
These have worked well for me for the past 2 years, but I was wondering, is there something better (grip wise) without being overly pricey or with a having a short life-span?
