What is the general opinion of these speakers. Alpine SPX-177A for the front and Alpine SPR-694A for the rear. How do these compare to comparable bostons and JL.

I think Boston's and JLs are better then Alpine speakers. I was never really impressed with Alpine speakers ever, but sound is total opinion. I myself went with Boston all around
