If you think you have it bad...

Kid next door to me has a 2001 Si. Put a LOT of money into this car even though it actually belongs to his girlfriend.

In December, he found a great deal on a used JR supercharger. $900. Installs it and gets this car up to a little over 140. Big mistake. This car is an AUTOMATIC. Trashed the tranny. Won't shift gears until about 5000 rpm. He thinks "Well, at least the extended warranty should cover it."

Removes the obvious mods that he could, like the supercharger, AEM CAI, Nitrous lines, header, projectors, etc. Basically back to stock except for the interior mods.
He gets word back from them that yes, the tranny needs to be replaced, but the extended warranty was CANCELLED. (He claims he never cancelled it.) Was in the process of getting a lawyer, when a few days later, the car was stripped while on the lot. Everything he had left in the car was gone, including the 10' lcd in the passenger dash and the Playstation 2 he had custom installed where his glovebox used to be. They even took the body kit! Over $6000 worth of stuff gone.

He approached the dealer and was told by them that they would not do anything about it. His loss. They even told him when he asked if they had a security tape which might reveal the culprits, that here wasn't any! How convenient. The removal of the items would have taken quite a while, and whoever did it knew exactly how to go about it. The interior wasn't trashed like someone had just ripped the stuff out, this stuff was taken out carefully. This car was alarmed, and he had written specific instructions on what wires not to cut. ONLY the wires he specified were cut. Hmmmm.... sounds like an inside job. Even one of the techs was asking him odd questions, like if he knew certain people. (Which he did, and they are known to have done this stuff before.)

Where does he stand now? A car that won't drive right, half his interior missing, and a very ticked off GF.

Now some good news. He has the stuff he had removed before dropping it off, and some of the OEM stuff from his swaps. He also has pictures of the interior from before it was stripped to prove what he had in there. Will make dealing with the insurance co. much easier. On top of this, he learned from the police department that another car (a Prelude) on the lot was stolen the same night, and that they have the "nonexistent" security tapes in their possession...

Well, thats a good thing atleast. It still doesnt change the fact that he's been screwed, but atleast he gets something back.

pisses me off when people steal stuff... go get a job and earn it, dont prey off hard working people! its diffrent when you steal from a car than a store.... it impacts people more than it would impact a larger store

i agree...people should try and earn there money to pay for the stuff they put on cars not steal it. I would feel bad if I was to steal from someone elses car and call it my own. Feel bad for people that, that happens too.
