![]() Hello! My 2nd post here!
I have a 1993 Civic EX with these mods. Dc Headers 4-2-1 Nology Wires 8mm Front Upper Strut bar Rear lower Strut bar Matrix cold air intake Encore Whells (I think they are generic) Dunlop w40 tires 205-50-R17 Short Shifter Bypass Trick Indiglo gauges Super White bulbs So.. Im planing to add more HP and I need to decide between these and I wish YOU to help me! I DONT want NOS nor TURBO. Spoon, Mugen or (Bullfrog, Bullrog dont know how to speel it) ECU OR take out the cat put a detonator (to reduce noise) and change all pipe with 2" and a stainless exhaust. Wich would you recomend. I think the ECU cuz my frinend told me that VTEC civic its redline is around the 7000RPM but my car can reach only 5800RPM!! So he tells me that I need a ECU and Exhaust system but I have money only 4 1 of them. Please be in mind that I live in Guatemala Central America so is very difficult to me to find very good brands ![]() Thanks!!! |

The tach can reach 10,000RPM but when my car reaches 5700<> i dont know how it is called in English but i think is the Fuel Cut-off.
Example When I reach 5700<> the car stops accelerating until i put 2nd gear... |

hmmm....maybe thats a restriction thing over where you live? you dont want to rev to 10k rpm, trust me. hehe. but umm, i wouldnt buy one of those ECU's off ebay - they can scam you so easy. try honda-tech classifieds, there are some good people on there that can get you an ECU w/o the rev limit/fuel cutoff at 5700rpm.

Well I get teh exhaust system or maybe a new camshaft(thought about that??). I wouldnt worry about a new ecu until you have more mods on the car. If you do get a new ecu save some cash and a hondata ecu. Those are great.

I'd go for the ECU, especially considering he's being limited at 5.7k. My max red is 8, red start is 6.5, and i've needed to take it to 6k here and there. not having that extra rpm could be a dampener on the driving experience. Plus ECU's are cheap.

in most cases you'll notice a slight performance increase with a larger exhaust pipe. Does your intake use a pipe that is larger then the throutle body...? if not you might want to look into that too, although you won't notice much difference.

not longer, larger.... length isn't always a good thing, but width is.
