Ok... yeah... Confused... Need Help Please

This probably belongs in the Tech Talk section somewhere, I just dont know where, so its going here... ok? Well its gonna be ok... ... now that thats outta the way, heres my question... as most of you know Ive been thinking and pondering and weighing pros and cons on what to get as my next car... I of course want something fast, but only have about 40k miles of driving experience under my belt, and I dont wanna die... I was looking into supras when I heard someone mention the back end slipping out fairly easily... this concerned me, and made me shun slightly away from supras... anyone know anything about this? My other question is, I saw where several other people stated that 600rwhp is equivalent to approximately 300fwph in term of speed... is this true? What would account for this other than gross vehicle weight? Thanks in advance, Im sure there will be all of 3 responses to this although hopefully more like 3 pages... thanks again

dude i think you got it wrong. if that were true why all the great sport cars were rwd, and not fwd. as far as i know the loss thru a fwd tranny is slightly larger than in a rwd. i guess that has to do something with the cv joints.

about your first question i haven't heard anything about supras getting out of control. And 40k miles under your belt are enough. i noticed that people with lots of miles under the belt are not paying enoug attention to the roads and they have bigger chances of getting in accidents

since you only got about 40k under your belt. i would suggest you lay off the power cars for now and get aquainted with driving a little more.. don't end up as another statistic whose life had to end cuz they couldn't control thier car. the reason the supras were slipping probably is beacuse of traction issues versus the horespower ratio. high hp, no traction=sliding everywhere.

Yeah... the only cars Ive driven a lot are a 01Navigator, my Highlander, a 01 325ci, a 01 s500 mercedes, and a few others... nothing with tons of pavement eating power... I think im gonna go the ligthweight sport compact with less power... looking currently at taking my 25ish grand and buying an eclipse gt or a newer celica gts for like 15k and using the other 10 to mod it decently... I will mod it slowly so I can gradually adjust to power increase... thanks for replies

Just practice out in an open field or somethin...if your nervous about it...find an open field and drive around for hours a day...i'm sure it'll help...

you MAY want to get a 240sx and SR swap it.

rwd ti my knowladge looses more hp than front cause of the drive shaft and differentials rwd is better cause of traction off the line.

Apparently you come from a fairly "well to do" family.

Celica & new Eclipse

How about an Eclipse GS-X? Buy one then you could mod the heck out of it with the leftovers. Not neccessarily just "go", but "show" too.

Good luck. Everything's "been done". Its not about the car, but about what you do with the car that makes it different.
