porting and polishing?
Ive been looking at products for porting and polishing my head and was wondering if anyone had any comments about it? I was thinking about doing the work myself and wondered if anyone knows where to get information about it and where to get some tools for this also how compicated is this procedure
thanks! |

it can be done by yourself, but it is not recommended. you could buy used lx head for like $100. practice on the spare head. you can use a dremel with a sander on it. you would port the exhaust and intake ports. you will also then need to port match your intake manifold and exhaust mani. you won't gain a crazy amount of hp from a PnP. honestly though man, save some $$ for a motor. the lx motor ain't to peppy. here's a pic of my head after the PnP at the shop

it basically cleans up and enlarges the ports. **warning** bigger ports are not always better! yuo can lose low and midrange power, but will gain high end power. easily corrected with a CAI though

i wasn't aware they had ported heads for an lx at gude. well with the right setup, you can have 58 hp. but a PnP alone will got give you 58 hp

Dang 58whp for 1k... yeah thats worth it... I would definately do that... I thought that honda engines came well ported from the factory and that merely porting/polishing them aftermarket would do little to no good because they were already so well tuned...

well that is true about honda engines. they are ported well from the factory, but if you wanna extract more power you gotta massage that engine over. oh yeah, 2001dx, i thought you meant a straight PnP. your getting a valve job(probably 3 angle), port matched intake mani and TB, plus some cams. so yeah 58 hp sounds right

ya well i was thinking H22....but other wise i'd do everything i could to this engine...turbo, Pnp, Valves, Cam, Camshaft, ETC up to some 50 shot of NOS....anything i can do i'll do it..i really don't care about huge horse...but if i can push 200 or even 190 i'd be happy....

well there is some good info in this thread.,....I have looked for a head to PNP and throw on mine but just haven;t had the cash to do so...but to PNP you are making the flow of air and all better in the engine so you can produce and perform better.....
