windows media player 9

http://windowsmedia.com/9series/What...ult.asp?page=2

Has anyone check out windows media player 9 yet?

I installed it a few days ago and I'm really lovin it. It does seem to want to connect to the internet alot, so if your using a "questionable" version of windows install a firewall to restrict it from accessing the net (I already had one running).

The feature I seem to be using alot is the taskbar feature. When minimized it can mount on your taskbar and even have a video screen for movies, or visual effects in songs. (check out image below)

In general it seems like a logical step for windows media player, has all the features of the leading music/video players and then some.

It kicked Winamp's ass and QCD owns my music now too.

As for WMP9, I haven't messed with it yet. I haven't been upgrading that stuff unless I feel that there's a problem with the old version. I don't care for flashy apps.

there are some good features in it. it has the crossfading now like winamp/QCD plus some other cool stuff. its 100% stable on my system no problems.

QCD sucks, I'm not sure how you people use your computers but i'm far from a basic user and found that the program has errors in its code. Causing it to be re-installed so it works, and it is known to crash just as bad as winamp.

I can't be bothered to reinstall amps and my machines on 24/7 so i need somethign that works. henc winmedia9

who knows, seems QCD runs fine for 2-3 weeks then need to be re-installed because of some error and winamp sucks suck. I almost switched to music match juke box but that would have been even worse.

You just dialed up? You should be just fine.

If you're worried about your computer sending out stuff, download ZoneAlarm or any of the many good firewall programs and don't let your computer send info out.

Dowload one of those firewall programs and set the security permissions to strict (you'll see what I'm talking about). It will then ask you before sending info out. You can program it to not ask with the obvious programs.

only programs you are currently using. A window will pop up asking if you want "program x" to access the internet. If you know this program and its safe to let it connect (something other then windows should be fine) then click yes and ad the "remember this answer"
