A new idea for APC to make played-out!

Okay I had this idea last night at work. I'm really sick of seeing the same neon kits and crap on everyones car. soo...do you remember "Back to the Future" when the delorian hits 88 mph?same concept:

My idea is basically to tap into the tachometer and use a series of resistors (or a variable resistor) to power a bunch of weather proof LEDS. There would be a lot of them, enough to kind of look like a neon kit. But they wouldn't be on all the time. The more you rev your engine, the brighter they get. so for an example, say you start your car, and flip a switch to activate the lighting. at 1000 rpm you have no light. rev to 2000 and you get faint lighting. Take off from a red light and the LEDS will get increasingly brighter till they are at their limit at, say, 4500-5000?

You could even go a step furhtur and add different color leds for the entire RPM range: red for 1500-3000, orange for 3000-5000 white for 5000-redline

With the classes I'm taking now at college this just might end up being my project. Anyone do this before? I'm sure APC or someone will jump all over it now.

pretty sure those would be illegal since they would be a driver distraction. and an active one at that.

Interesting concept, but I sure as hell wouldn't sport something like that on my car. I can see APC jumping on that if it were legal.

well obviously it wouldn't be used on the street. I thought it was a rather interesting idea though. Even for inside the car, rather than out.

Or I could just mount a huge tach in the rear windshield, a projector would be too much trouble...j/k
