Need Help with Oil Light problem on 88 Accord
I drive a 1988 honda accord. i got it used with like 115,000 miles. i payed 1,000 dollars for it. its my first car. at first i kinda drove it hard and didnt really worry. but then the oil light started commin on. even after i got the oil changed it kept comming on. it would come on and if i was stopped i would put it in neutral(its an automatic) and then the light would disappear. one day the car broke down at a light on the taconic parkway. i was fvcked so i let it sit for an hour and it turned back on.
i had some work done to it and it works fine now except for the oil light. my question is.. Has anyone else with an 80's model accord experienced anything similar and if so what can i do to solve the problem, any advice would be appreciated |

that light usually comes on when your oil level is low.
check to see if the level is ok, and if it is.. well the sensor is probably messed up.

Hey thanx for the reply. I think the sensor is messed up cuz I will put a quart in or get the oil changed and the light will come on 3 days later. So it might be burning oil or like you said the sensor might be screwed up.
The car is great on the highway but the light comes on if I am driving city traffic.. Like stop n Go.. Anyway thanks a lot. Peace |

my car used to do that with mobil oil.
other than that might be the oilpump that is going and it does not provide enough pressure to get to the sensor. try using a thicker oil and see if that solves the problem
