Blinker resistor. Question?

Ok, I have followed the instructios on changing the resistor to make my turn signal blink faster, but all the way up to opening the thing up. I got a 45k resistor but I am not sure how to attach it. Do I need to sauder (spelling?) it on? I dont have one, so is there another way to do it?

I tried posting this in the step by step forum but it wasnt posting....
