Whats in your music folder

Ok everyone lets try something new. Post your Music folder but make sure it's your most recent by date modified. Of course I'll go first so you can all see what I mean. This will be like a show your wallpaper thread.

Exactly. If I did a screen shot of my Realplayer window right now even at 1024x768 you'd see about 1/50th of the songs on my comp.

My updated lists still consists of like 200 songs.

You know..it's the usual..slow jams, slow jams, and female vocal techno.

I don't have any rap. I've got some hip hop and even then only what I consider "smart" hip hop...stuff like Mos Def, Lyrics Born, Gift Of Gab, Latyrx, and some stuff from the Quannum collective. Well...wait...I do have some Public Enemy just because I like to feel militant and old school from time to time. Closest thing to trance I have is a little DJ Shadow and maybe Craig Armstrong (but he's more of a composer who uses a few electronic elements in his stuff. He's done a lot of soundtrack work...I highly suggest checking him out if you just wanna relax).

Most of my stuff is punk, metal, hardcore, and emo (not the pussy whiney homo shit like Sum 41 or Fallout Boy...even though Fallout Boy has a couple good songs). A lot of stuff from bands my friends are in that's downright impossible to categorize, too.

Ok...here's a few

Look What I Did - crazy ass kind-of-hardcore. A bit hard to find, but you can hear their stuff on Myspace

Avenged Sevenfold - a mix of hardcore and old school metal.

Thrice - newer style punk with excellent guitar work and solos (remember guitar solos?)

Downset - the closest thing to rapcore I'll listen to. Smart with a message and more hardcore than metal. No Limp Bizkit bullshit.

Craig Armstrong - like I said, excellent if you just wanna chill.

Reggie And The Full Effect - a friend's band who happened to make it big. A strange mix of emo, punk, and the occasional synth song. Just remember that a lot of the songs are meant to be making fun of other genres.

Alkaline Trio - tons of ridiculously clever lyrics...an even blend of punk and emo.

MC Paul Barman - the best and dorkiest hip hop lyricist I've ever head. It takes a while to get a lot of the references he makes so it's not really for everyone. And they say white guys can't rap.

Guitar Wolf - if you can stand some noise and lyrics in Japanese, I'd recommend them. It's a mix of punk and "psychobilly" (rockabilly played fast and noisy)...very 1950s meets the Sex Pistols (if the Sex Pistols had ever been good).

Bad Religion - get the newer stuff...or anything off of "Against The Grain". As long as it's Mr. Brett singing and not Greg Graffin.

I could go on, but that's a good start.

what you got against greg? he was 10x better imo. what about the grey race? that album kicked ass. and greg brought harmonic vocals into punk giving punk a depth and south that was more than just garage noise. bad religion has gone downhill in the past 5 years, older stuff was where they used their good talent.

It's really nothing against Greg... I just like Brett's stuff better. Back when they were doing it together (everything until Stranger Than Fiction...which was an awesome album as well) everything was great. That stuff was beyond punk...it was better than any punk band ever could be because it was so smart and diverse. Then Brett left to manage Epitaph and it didn't sound as good. Grey Race was ok...the album that followed it was not. Greg just didn't write songs as well as far as I'm concerned. If I had to define Bad Religion it would sadly be defined by Mr. Brett. I don't agree with the way he does business, but when he was the larger part of Bad Religion, I liked the sound better. The last Bad Religion album was way better than the past 2 in my opinion. The older stuff is far better (Against The Grain is probably the best. Suffer is awesome, too) but if we're going modern Bad Religion, the Mr. Brett stuf has gotta win.

The real question is, is the taste of chaos tour coming anywhere near me? The answer is no. Besides, last year's line up was only so-so. Haven't seen this year's. I've pretty much given up on big tours and arena concerts anyway. There's something about being in a small venue that's hard to match. Being 10 feet away from a band feels a lot more real than being 100 feet away.

I actually used to be a huge concert-goer. Especially in the local scene. I know most of the local bands and they know me. Somehow I still can't go to local shows without someone coming up to me who knows me. I'm not saying there haven't been times when I wanted to murder someone at a show...especially when stupid girls twirl around like a bunch of fucking hippies at a metal show. I went to Sno-Core in 2000 and was about an inch away from beating these two hippie bitches to death while they were twirling around during System Of A Down. I mean...seriously.

well if you have a chance to hear a7x's earlier you'll notice that they sounded harder, well that is because the lead singer had to have surgery on his throat because of the tones and lengths of the tones that he sang in burst a blood vessel in his throat, and hence the softer sounding recording voice.
