How often have you...

How many times have you read a book before seeing the movie? I just saw another trailer for The Amittyville Horror and got to thinking about how that was the first and only time I ever read a book before seeing a movie (the original movie with James Brolin). I suppose you could count all of the books I read about Che Guevara before seeing The Motorcycle Diaries...but that movie wasn't based on any book in particular. So is it just me or do other people favor the movie over the book? I will, however, say that what I pictured in my head while reading The Amittyville Horror was way better than the movie. Hopefully the remake will rectify that.

July 16th, actually. Man I hate those books. Makes my life hell at work every time they announce another one. I won't read them purely out of spite.

It only gets bad right when they announce it. We've been taking reserve requests for something like 3 or 4 months...and it still won't be out for another 3 1/2 months. It's ridiculous. I don't care what the books are about...no book is worth that much hype. Oh well...at least I sell music and not books.

yea I've never been that crazed over a book.. The books I read are generally in series with 6+ books in them so when I use to read I'd pick the next book in the series up, but never reserve it or anything.. I generally lose interst if I have to wait that long for something

I think it's great that a book gets that much attention. Anything that gets kids(and adults) reading is great.

I read the Hobbit and all of the Lord of the Rings back in 5th grade just for the hell of it and had to see the movies of course. I did read all of the Jurassic Park series before seeing the movies too and I have to say that although those movies kicked ass the books were much better (the JP books)
