My parent's went to the bay area without me for Easter.
Not that we celebrate it anyway..but it's a significant holiday and I wish more kids knew what the hell they were celebrating.

At work yesterday, I actually had a little girl that said, "Easter is Candy day!!"

Thanksgiving for the food.

I actually like St Patty's day because I can call it MY holiday. I mean its the only time when being Irish is fun. And the drinking.

I just like halloween because its the total opposite of every single other holiday of the year. It promotes darkness rather than family and togetherness, kids run totally amok, and everything is supposed to be scary. I love it for its difference

Sure...it arose from some christians with the somewhat disturbing notion that they'd celebrate the death and resurrection of their lord and savior by telling children a large rabbit came and left them chocolate eggs overnight. No...wait...that'd just be silly.

Seriously...just like all other christian practices it's probably loosely rooted in paganism.

The Encyclopædia Britannica comments: “There is no indication of the observance of the Easter festival in the New Testament, or in the writings of the apostolic Fathers. The sanctity of special times was an idea absent from the minds of the first Christians.”

The Catholic Encyclopedia tells us: “A great many pagan customs, celebrating the return of spring, gravitated to Easter. The egg is the emblem of the germinating life of early spring. ._._. The rabbit is a pagan symbol and has always been an emblem of fertility

not all christians celebrate them.
