We have all seen it.... years ago.

They were supposed to be in and out... but the entire city, which was armed to the teeth erupted and they ended up fighting everyone loyal to the local warlord (which was prety much every person).

They wanted to remove a local warlord from power who was controlling all the food and aid the UN gave..

Black Hawk Down is a great movie.

Don't quite remember the exact details, but they were supposed to sweep in and capture some important person and be out as fast as possible. They had captured that guy riding in the car in very beginning which I assume gave them the location of where the targets would be. Instead the militia knew they were coming and were waiting. This can be seen when the little boy was holding up the mobile phone so the warlord would hear the chopters flying past.

If you are looking for more war movies, another one of my favorites is We Were Soldiers starring Mel Gibson and set during the Vietnam War.

From what I've heard since it's release to video was that there is GOOD evidence that it was an al-qaeda operation that took down the helicopter...

It was an AWFUL situation... that's one place where I will agree with republicans that there are certain aspects of miltary operations democrats or non-ex-military will NEVER understand...

The people in charge over there were apperently BEGGING for more vehicles and men in case they needed to deal with something large... but I BELIEVE clinton wanted to keep it light and clean looking... which resulted in what we all read about and later saw in a movie.

An AC130 or 2 would have changed the whole outcome I think..

And a couple LAV's, some Cobra's, a few M1A1's, and maybe some Marines for good measure would have definatly changed the outcome.

havent seen the movie in some time, but remember it very well, great great movie. I actually watched a documentary of it told by 3 or 4 of the guys who were in the middle of the mess, and from what they told it was pretty damn accurate.

I thought it was a good movie...long but good. It kinda freaked me out seeing kids in the action but all in a nutshell, it was a good, intense movie.
