Cai
i just had a question. since im getting a b16 for my 91 civic what to i buy for a CAI because alot of the one that i have found are for EX's and Si's but i have a LX. now does it matter if i get one for an EX, and will it work the same on an LX with a b16 motor swap. this has been a question that i have been trying to find an answer to through the internet and have come up empty so can anyone help.

depends on the deisign of the tb...is it vertical or horizontal?
you may run into some problems with finding a cai that will fit just right sinceno b's came stock in the 91's usdm. Call up aem and ask what will work...they have good cs when answering q's |

try that, or just make your own. I'd install the b16 and just slap a conical airfilter direct to the tb (temporarily of course). then do some measuring to figure what will fit your lx with a b16. and of course post your data online for others to use

im leaning more towards an Injen CAI but does anyone else have any ideas of what i should do about buying a CAI. or should i just piece one together

cold air intake or hot air intake - it really does not matter since the difference is only 1 or 1.5 hp at the most - just get the hot air intake since it'll fit with no problems and with the CAI if you hit a puddle, your screwed (the bypass valve just makes your CAI into an HAI)

hot air is better, then cold air. like he mentioned if water hits your cai your screwed, itll freeze in the pipe. seen this happen in the winter time. if you go cai, i suggest building a cover to keep water out. like on an mr2, you have to put something over it, so when it rains the water doesnt leak threw the vents and get in the air filter. most people use plexi glass.

i had a cai for almost 2 years now. i drove thru 2 winters with it and never had any problems with it whatsoever. also i havethe bpv on my aem cai and i reved the engine to the redline and i never noticed any air going tru the bypass valve, so sucking hot air in is out of the question. I never had the ice problem during the winter time and my air filter from the cai is only like 4" off the ground, and i drive on the snowbelt all winter long.
