Low Beam Bulb Burning Wiring Harness??

Whats up all? I just need some help on a bulb question. I bought a set of 9006 100W supposedly xenon gas filled blah blah...I've heard that the bulbs can actually burn the wiring harnesses or the headlamp assembly where the bulb sits. Is this true? Have any of you experience this? Good and bad advice is all welcomed~!

Thanks All.

well is 100w the consumption or the power output ? most of the bulbs are 55w consumption/100w output in which case they should be fine

Some of the cheaper, high output bulbs can indeed heat up and melt a harness. What brand of bulbs did you buy?

Its some unknown company from Japan called Dantra?? I mean I got 2 sets for $15 and both sets are new still in packaging. I dunno if the guy who sold them to me stole them or what not but couldn't pass up the deal.

It says 100W output, but thats what I was thinking lowbeams go 55W right? So it would never be able to output 100W without a balast anyway?

Is it possible to upgrade the harness? Do they sell maybe HID harnesess only that I could swap with the stock harness? Thanks all.

they can output 100w if they are halogens and still use only 55w

Good to know thanks. So if the low beam runs constantly at 100W then there is a good possibility that the harness will burn then huh? Thats the only thing I need to know so your opinions will be helpful

You can always upgrade your harness and relays to handle the extra wattage.......I'd check on what the actual wattage is before you put them on. I've seen what they can do.

I don't even hassle with hyperwhites/HIDs. Blow out too often (and I know, I don't touch the bulb itself), some actually started to melt inside of the housing, and also attracted cops more.

I just some more because the halogen just look bad with the other "blue hyper white" bulbs that I have in every other light. but they are a pain, I just now learned that to keep them from burnign out you need to make sure you turn your lights on AFTER you start the engine and BEFORE you turn it off. because if you have your lights on while the engine if off and turn it on, the engine sends a eletrical spike throughout the car and can easily snap the filament inside the bulb because of the momentary increase in power. If you already knew that sorry for wasting your time, if not you have learned something usefull for the day, now you can go to sleep happy

Yah thats what I mean...I checked out PIAA and RAZO and found out that they have replacements for the 9006 too and they go like 110W...I know these are cheaper knockoffs but you really think they are gonna melt wires? Please speak from past experiences no speculation please
