wow this makes me feel bad. Car - free(handmedown), paintjob- brother n law(not counting paint so like $500). air intake, strut bar and blue hoses - my cousin. Wheels - my brother n law and parents helped with them and the paint. Exhaust - i paid for half of that which wasnt bad. And clear corners i took those when my brother n law did a conversion for some kid he put like a 00' front end on his 94 civic and since he didnt need the clear corners i confiscated them. Oh and stereo equitment was pretty much all graduation presents. I feel cheap..... someone else talk now

I put more money repairing my car after two crashes...well little crashes, so i bought it for 4800, 3500 in damage repair 2 years ago. About 800 in performance parts....now that the car is fixed and in working order than the performance numbers will grow

I am on my 3rd set of rims and they still just are not what I think I want, so it is no big deal.

hmm....where to start lol
car, brand new in 00- $18,000
wheels/tires- $1,000
body kit- $900 after paint
lowering kit- $400
new motor- $3,300
in depth motor work- $800
turbo system- $4,500 into all of it
nitrous kit- $800 in all
exhaust- $400
seats- $650
PS2- $200
5.4" flip up screen- $400
stereo receiver- $400
speakers- $250
subs- $500
amps- $800
red/clear tails- $120
tons of little misc. crap such as shift knob, painted pieces, and junk that I don't want to add up lol
total $35,000+ which is waaaay too much, I should have went with another car, something that could have hit the same times for much less.
That's just how much I've spent on mods, there's a lot more if we wanna talk about me breaking things or things getting stolen that I've had to replace. And I also can't imagine how much it would of been if I paid someone to do it instead of me and my friends doing it. yikes

Geez...this will be long.

Car = $6,000 (hey...it had 36,000 original miles)

First motor (junkyard rebuilder to 347) = $700 w/ a good amount of work done by me

Second (and current) motor = $3,000 with some work by me and anything sourced out to shops was done for a good price

Suspension = Wow...including the brakes I'll say $4,000 - $5,000

Transmission = $2,500

Wheels/tires first set was $1,100, second was about $1,500

SDS Digital fuel injection = $1,200

Throw-together turbo kit with new T-76 and Spearco 3 core = around $3,500 after any labor I didn't do myself

Pro-Spyder intake = $750

Rear end = $2,000 from Currie

Misc. other stuff = probably around $1,000

Yes, this was over many years. Also. many of the parts were bought used or from people/companies I have good professional relationships with (read: at a sizeable discount...especially that second motor). Hey...I can think of more expensive ways to get a car that turns and burns while putting down 650+hp

Sorry, but I see that as a total waste.. why would you buy a new car and then swap motors? You could have bought at least a 350z.. or something along those lines. Wow.

I bought the car and loved it, it was a great little car. I did some bolt ons, i/h/e and some interior work and what not. After about a year and a half I realised that it just wasn't doing it for me and I did the motor swap, and then came the turbo. It wasn't like I bought the car brand new just to swap a motor in it the next week. And yes, I know now that I should have spent my money much wiser, but it's too late now lol. And I actually didn't have to spend that much on all of it, my friend has a shop and gets things for me at a lower cost.

and highlander, low 13s

I assume running 13s WITH nitrous.. but even so.. you coulda had something like a cherry 58-67 vette.. Even a Jag roadster with that $. Sorry just in awe of the money spent on something that is still a $13,000 car.

Everything listed there is a total waste of money. You bought a brand new car and dropped a different motor in it...why not just buy a car with the motor you wanted in the first place? I did the same thing but Ford wasn't exactly cranking out production 347s or 331s. Also, if you have a turbo and you still need nitrous to go fast, it's time for a better engine. Turbos are all about tuning and throwing nitrous at it is not only bad for the motor but it's just a waste of money. A PS2 with a flip up screen? You've gone F & F on us here. Seriously...do you play that while driving? And does your passenger really need to play the damn thing while in traffic? The other stuff...turbo kit, wheels, etc. etc. is all good...but that's damn near $5000 you wasted right there.

I have never used the nitrous on my car since the swap and I bought it before I did the motor swap or went turbo. And the PS2 with flip up screen is awesome, great for my friends or gf watching a movie on a long trip. Also great show pieces, hard to win shows when you're running stock equipment...
