2003 Inline 4 5speed

What do you think will be the performance potential for this? What do you think will be the performance potential for this? It seems like the focus is on the V6. Will they forget about the I4?

well accords were never intended as hot rods, but with the new v6 honda is trying to play catch up with the new nissans. i really don't know the specs for camris but i don't think camry is a hot rod either 6 cylinder or not.

Now that the Accord will come in a V6 manual, I'd wait for that. The 4 bangers just won't be that fast.

Well the 4door 4cylinder automatics from 2003 run 16.4s stock so i think thats pretty quick for an accord. Especially since mine ran about a whole second slower stock.

I test drove the Spec V before I got the accord. It seemed much faster and handled better. Of course I got a great deal on the accord and it is much nicer overall. I couldn't get the V6 though and want to bump my stats up to that of the Spec V as that seemed adequate to me. Right now I feel a bit slow

The I4 5speed Accord coupe is
2.4 liters Inline 4
3047lbs 160hp/161tq

The Spec V is
2.5 liters Inline 4
2743 lbs. 175hp/180tq

Spec V will be faster.....but i think theres more mods for the accord (body, interior, etc) im not sure about engine..u can always customize ur interior on any car..if the accord is cheaper..buy that and make it faster with the saved money

I know the Spec is faster, but I just wanted to know if you think the new 2003 i4 5speed can get to those numbers with bolt ons?

Well teh spec V weighs about as much as a civic. Its also made for performance were the accord is not. Either way both still great cars.

KG... I would feel safe owning the 4cyl. There will always be parts for 4cyl Honda motors. It might be a while till a company makes a turbo kit, but there's probably already intakes and cat-backs out on the market...

Bad news for me...

kg729

I have a 2003 7th gen 5-speed k24 Accord Coupe and was wondering when/if there was going to be a Hondata available for that? I know you guys have it for the Rsx and Civic K's.

In short, we're not going to be able to do anything for the 2003 Accord.

Honda is virtually split into two 'divisions' - the Civic/Integra division, and the Accord/Prelude division. There seems to only be limited communication between the two even though they are both building Honda cars. Even though the 2003 Accord has almost the same engine as the Civic/Integra(RSX) K20A/K20A2/K20A3, the Accord has completely different engine management. The ECU is very different, the wiring is different, and it's first Honda I've ever seen with a MAF sensor.

If I could time travel then I would go back and force Honda to make the Accords/Preludes in the same way as the Civic/Integras (which are a much better design from our point of view).

Actually, yes I did! Normally that would be a bad thing since I have had many bad experiences with them in the past. I wasn't going to buy from them but I stopped in to just test drive the new Si then after that thing sucked I thought while I was there, why not try the accord. I really had ZERO interest in it before. After I drove it I liked it, but had my heart set on the Spec V still for the 'fun factor' plus cost. They tried to get me to do a deal that night but I never do that so I left. After I found out that 'poor credit' can prevent you from getting a car from Nissan I decided to listen more closely to the Accord guy. He was very nice, unlike most chach car salesmen...sorry if anyone who reads this offended. They offered me a great deal with trade in for my 3000GT (cost too much to keep...hence couldn't pay bills...hence poor credit) and low monthly lease payment so I could get my finances in order so I took it. The guys name is Eric Theis and I would recommend him to anyone. HE made sure I had everything taken care of and even gave me a 'free tank of gas' pass. Great on follow up too. So, maybe all dealerships are crooked but you can luck out with a decent sales guy. In the end, I like the accord luxury but still miss a bit of 'fun factor'. It was the best option for me right now. In 4 years I can get another car, but I wanted to do some simple bolt ons to get it a bit quicker. Now that I saw Injen's AI for the I-4 I will prob get that in the next month.

Thanks guys!

ohhh well i have some horror stories about ganley honda. first everytime i took my car there to get something fixed i neeeded to go the second and third time to have it completely done (thank to frank and sophia), then when we got my brother's teg the interest suddenly went from 11% to 23%. i will never go there again. when i needed a wheel alignament even if they had the price on that board at the entrance they sent me to rick case honda (some other crooked dealer, but their service is good) to have the car aligned. ohhh well let me know what mods you want and i'll give you a hand with them, now that i sell aftermarket car parts.
