hood release handle

Hey

I kinda broke my hood release handle when showing someone my CAI that I recently put in.

Tried using epoxy but the plastic handle piece does not bond and snaps back off.

I use plyers to open the hood now cause I don't feel like spending $50+ on a new cable and handle.

Has this happened to anyone else?

nope...sounds like youre pretty screwed unless you fork over the $50 for a new one. try www.hparts.com it might be less there just because dealerships charge a hell of a lot more

Hood Release Handle

Hi,

Just wanted to chip in with my story. I had the same thing happen in my '99 civic ex coupe. The plastic piece broke and I had to open the hood with pliers pulling on the cable. Well, I decided to talk to my local Honda dealership during an oil change and found out that it has been a pretty common mishap among Civics and other Hondas. The good news was the part costs about 20 dollars. The bad one... Here is a SHOCKER for you!!! Tt will cost you about $140, $150 to put it in because you have take the front fender off. There is no other way around it. I was lucky because my car was hit on the front fender and the body shop guy put it for me at no extra charge!!!

Good luck!
