Nasty rattle at 50mph+

Ok this is driving me nuts...

When I'm going at 50 mph or over, and then take my foot off the accel, I get a nasty thump thump thump thump.... What could this be? I'm thinking clutch or brake rotors. The clutch is starting to go out, and it slips terribly. I had it up on jacks a while ago and it was it neutral. When I revved it a bit the wheel started turning. Could the rattle be the clutch slipping?

I'm going to try a test, I'll go 50-60 then put the clutch in and see what the noise does.

I actually have EXACTLY the same problem
I mean word for word you named it
50mph I begin to feel it...around 60-75 it gets somewhat worse!

And only when I take my foot of the accel

my dad thinks it's the engine mount pads!

isn't that weird? engine mount pads....hmm...I wouldn't know how to check those....

Just so I can eliminate e few things on my end, what condition are your brakes in? How new is your clutch, or is your chronos a stick?

It's not tire balancing because my steering wheel doesn't shake!
On my Concorde, the wheel shock at 130kmh
~80mph I think...so that was balacing...I'm pretty sure this isnt'!

Check your mounts. If you put it in gear then let off the clutch your engine shouldn't move a whole lot. There will be some play, but if it looks like its "slamming" around you probably have issues.

No no it happens say I'm in 4th or 5th and doing 50mph+

then I just let off the gas pedal...then it starts doing it
not when I'm shifting!

have them rebalanced and look for bends in the rim. also check the crossmembers.

wouldn't the steering wheel shake if they aren't balanced? because mine is normal...doesn't shake at all.

What do you mean by crossmembers?

the shaking couldn't be cv joints could it? I had a torn one for a while, fixed it, but maybe the damage was already done?

ah boy do I feel stupid. I figured out what my rattle was, but first a story...

I was wd-40 ing some rust on my car and had to take the wheels off to do it. I took care of it and put the wheels back on. The next day as I'm driving to school a hear the nasty rattle again, but its happening at low speeds also (25-30). As I'm driving home from school it is getting extremely bad, and I'm getting increasingly worried. I stop of at my cousins house to get it in the air so I can take a look, and then I have an idea. I whip out the tire iron and guess what? the lugs were loose as bastards. I felt so incredibly stupid! I could've lost my wheel! I always tighten the lugs when I'm done, but I must've been distracted or something. That was also probably the problem before, just didn't tighten them enough. So...

ALWAYS TRIPLE CHECK YOUR LUG NUTS BEFORE DRIVING!!!!
