Carfax????

Hey guys and girls I was trying to get a carfax report on a car that I was thinking of buying, and it came back saying "The CARFAX© database currently contains no records for
this vehicle. Please check back again soon, as our database is continually updated." It did say what kind of car and what year and trim, etc.... but then that messege came up. Has this happened to anyone before? Is this a really bad thing or does it have nothing to do with the car and just with carfax? As it is the dealer is kinda shady and now this, im not really sure if I should trust him, or the car!!

Ya I never ran a report before but people say it works. And I kinda want to check the car out somehow more than just driving it and looking at it. It was bought from a insurance company and it just got painted, this could be nothing or the car could have been stolen or wrecked or something especially how its a 95 with only 44k on it. He did say that it comes with a 30 day bumber to bumber, so if anything goes wrong he will buy the car back from me the full amount I paid for it, and he said for the life of the car if something goes he will replace it for free. These are pretty good promises but im not sure if the car is OK!!!!

carfax only shows wrecked info if the crash had a police report and even then some states don't give them the info.

IF you do decide to take this car, get all this guy's promises in writing. I don't see why he would make them but who knows.

ya he would put it all in writing....but is that still ok. He sounds like hes positive that the car is in good condition and is willing to do all he says he did.

Alright if you really want this car take it to a mechanic somewhere well away from this place and have them look it over it might cost some money but if they find some major problem(like a bent frame or something crazy like that) it will have saved you thousands. They can also do a bunch of tests and see what the condition of the engine is in.

Ya my buddies dad owns a garage and he said I could take it there and he or one of his guys will take a gooood look at it and find any little thing that could be wrong. If its in writing that he will buy it back or fix it what ever i choose, do you think i should try it? If you think of it there is nothing really to lose.

Well if you got a good mechanic on your side then your set. Go for it. Just make SURE you get all this stuff in writing and read the fine print.

Make sure they give you some kind of warranty with the paint too. You don't want the crap peeling off in a year or so.

thats true. What if he says he cant do anything about that, becauuse he said that even though he will replace parts he wont do anything if I scratch it. So........... Everything is still in the air as of right now!!!

From reading both your posts it seems taht you yourself don't know what you want.

Figure that out first. That's the most important thing.
Second, if this isn't a large Honda dealership, it usually is harder to get them to do something after you gave them the money and bought the car. And if they do actually do it, they'll find the cheapest parts there are...meaning they will be crap.

Don't expect Honda Dealership quality service.

AND FIND OUT WHAT YOU WANT!
You are WAY too confused in your posts!

That is why I said "everything is still up in the air right now" I know im confused im not trying to hide it. If I wasnt I would have the car right now or I would be looking somewhere else.

is this the car you really want? you could always look for a different type, I have a 94' honda civic and im lovin it but its been in the family for about 5 years, im pretty sure the car would be ok but you should have someone that knows cars maybe a mechanic friend or something come check it out and see what he thinks.

ya I would def. have someone that knows alot about cars check it out. Even if I buy it i have 30 days to have it checked out as many times as I want and if im not sat. he will buy it back for the same price I payed for it, and he would put this in writting.
