civic dx transmission in a civic hx

Now, here is the real question. My tranny has been shot by the tranny devil, and now I need a new one. Rebuilding it is pretty high up there in the $$$$$$$ department. Will a 96-98 civic DX tranny work in my 98 civic HX. The gear ratio's are the same when I looked them up, except in final drive. I know that it won't work, but I just want to hear the rest of you say it so I can actually sleep without pondering the problem. Let me know.

Well, I looked up the engine codes, and the gear ratio's, and the gear ratio's and compression is the same with the DX and HX except for final drive. I'm actually gonna try this tranny swap cause they are so similar, but I'll let you all know who are interested in case this ever happens to you if this works or not.

Is this something that you know for a fact, or something that you are guessing at? I'll prolly buy the tranny tomorrow.
