Help me choose my suspension setup!
OK guys and girls, I'm looking to lower my car, and I'm going to do it right the first time, but I have some questions. Oh yeah, I'm still rolling on stock ex wheels btw.
OK, I'm looking at true coilover kits. I've been told by several that the Apexi WS was nice, but could be stiffer. I am strictly looking for performance btw. Now on some site, I see that the Apexi N1 is for Civics only, but on www.inlinefour.com they have them for Accords. That is right about my price range, give or take a little. Also, I see the sustecs on that site which seem nice. So, are the Apexi N1s really for Accords or is that a typo? Also, I can't find the height adjustment range on them anywhere. Would they be much better to get than the WS, or will that suffice? I was originally going with GC/yellow combo, but have talked myself out of it I think. Any suspension advice at all would be much appreciated. There are a bunch of random questions scattered throughout what I wrote, but I'm just trying to learn as much as possible before I dump $1000+ on suspension. And no, I don't want wheels first ![]() Thanks! ![]() |

I wont be able to help you much, but here goes.
First, I'm 90% sure that the N1 is available for Civic/Integra only, in the Honda/Acura family. The WS, may not be as stiff as the N1, but is still pretty stiff.. Too much for my taste.. If you dont really care about the height adjustability, then I'd go with a spring/shock setup.. One that would fit you well (i think??) would be Sportline/Yellows.. Anyways, what do you want out of your suspension setup? ![]()

Good point, I didn't really say what I wanted out of it. I want performance, and don't really care about ride quality too much. But I also want at least height adjustability. The sportline/yellow combo is great, but I'm going to go with coilovers. I'm glad to hear that the WS is pretty stiff, that's what I want. Accord Man, did you ride in a car with the WS package? The price is very good on them also, so I'm going to look further into that.
Anyone else have comments/personal experinces to share? Thanks for the help Accord Man. |

Yes I did. It was a 94-95 4 door EX. Thats how I know the ride is too harsh for my taste. Well, now we know you want coilovers. The handling, was very tight. Would be a solid Auto-X combo. The only reason why I wasnt digging this setup, was caus for the stiffness of the suspension, the handeling wasnt really much better that with the sportlines.. There's a guy who lives in my area who has a prokit/AGX setup.. I've rarely seen an Accord able to handle corners like his (he was going at it against a 330Ci). Just wanted to mention that. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Returning to the point, if your set on coilovers, the WS should fit your needs. But you'd better check with others who have this setup, just to confirm what i've said. ![]()

Thanks guys. Yeah, I really do want the coilover setup... I'm ok with the stiff WS, I was just wondering if there were other options. I will follow up with strut bars/sways, etc.

Well at least the weekend is here now.
Wait a second, I'm post jacking my own post... lets keep this on topic... Any other suspension comments? I was going to go with the Tanabe sustecs, but I just got a $200 ticket yesterday for entering a turn lane too early ![]() ![]() ![]() |
