take a trip with rob through his one of his training rides

i'm gonna cross that big red thing to start my ride

hills 1

hills 2

ocean shot 1

the valley

climbing up

going down

the beach, small but still got some good ass

looking out onto the bay (north)

well i hope you enjoyed that. sorry the scans are kinda dark, that day it was 83f and sunny with few clouds. I start from dowtown SF, CA (post st and Leavenworth) and work my way to the Golden Gate bridge (25min), across it and then down into the Marin valley(15min) where i spend all day going up and down the foot hills (5-8hours).

This place is the love of my life and the people there are so nice Now this isn't the type of riding i do around here, in Cali they only have fire roads here in Ontario we have single track. thats where the fun and pain start. busted up my sholder the otherday :( popped it back in place myself 20mph into a tree isn't fun.

Total ride time is anywhere between 5 hours (minimum if its not so nice out of i get tired) all the way up to 8-10hours. That day was a 8 hour day, dam i crashed and then went out to dinner 2 hour later after a shower and a per-dinner dinner.

Total travel distance 45miles (5 hours) to 90miles(10 hours).

Wow man, I envy you. I wish I was in that kind of shape to be able to ride so much in one day. What kind of bike do you have?

Creep wit me, as we take a lil' trip down memory lane
Been here longer than anyone in the game
And I ain't got to lie about my age
(But what about Deanna Brooks?) **** Ms.Brooks!
She don't belong speakin Heavy D's or brotha.bikas name
And don't think, I don't read
your lil' magazines, and see what you're showin
I'm a giant, and I ain't gotta move 'til I'm provoked
Cuz when I see you I'ma fly by you and not even know it
You slow ass, playboy bunny with a bunch of little extreme hunnies
runnin around your backyard swimmin pools
Over 8 races won each gold
And I ain't have to do it with ten tries and each fold

Man you are insane. I wish I could ride that much. I'm lucky to make my outta shape ass around the block.
Wonder how you get started in this kinda thing? Seems like it'd be pretty good for you.

Well it all got started like 6 years back when a friend of mine (also named Robert) got me biking with him. We'd just go riding for like 1-2 hours and talk about cars and shit for the other 2-3 hours we were out in the afternoon.

But then slowly i started riding more and more and so did he, when you have the time to put in 15-20hours of riding in a week (over 2months) you get into shape quickly.
Before i started riding i still had my baby fat, but in 1 month i dropped 30 lbs going from 150lbs to 120lbs. Then i started putting on muscle... about 15lbs worth, all on my legs. I was a dam machine for 2-3 years. In the winter i would grind away on my stationary bike in the basement 4-5 times a week for about an hour a session.

then there came the pressure to do well in school, this started to kill my riding time. As it is with work, school and friends i get riding (locally) about 3-4 times a week. I try to get up north 2-3imes a month to do some race training but weather and time dont always work in my favour.

basically it comes down to the fact i love riding, its the only time i feel truly free... its as though i'm one with my bike and the grownd below me. When i dont get enough riding (aka gf who takes up my time) i become someone i dont like to be, someone whos miserable that is.

I guess if you want to get into riding make it a priority and dont feel you have to start off bike just go for 30min at a time. If you fall inlove with it you'll have no trouble making time for riding but you will have trouble making time for life

EAT, SLEEP, RIDE (repeat)
