So today I got a little curious again
I have thought about this topic, off and on, ever since it was brought to my attention. Today, I decide to ask your opinion.
Why do people spend hundreds, if not close to $1000+ plus on five lug conversions, when it would be just the same to swap the hubs from a crv? Not the knuckle, just the hub. In the rear you'd need to go itr hubs because Im pretty sure crv's never had rear disc. Am I wrong or does that make sense? Going that route, one wouldnt need to redrill rotors to fit nsx/itr calipers on the ex/si/abs/integra knuckle. Now, granted, if one wasnt planning on going 5lug at all, this would be more expensive than just redrilling the rotors. But say if someone wanted the 'bling factor' of it, the increased stability from an added lug, and wanted itr+ calipers...then it makes sense. Tell me why this doesnt work. |

why do a 5 lug conversion in the first place ? my 4 lugs are just fine the way they are after 172 k miles and lots of abuse.

bigger brakes w/o redrilling
"added stability" of an extra lug (I personally find this hard to buy into) Bling factor There are probably other reasons that I cant think of...Its mostly bling |

that'd be all as far as I can tell...
Hubs, studs, and bearings. You could even have a special package that included extened wheel studs. |

Anybody doing the 5lug conv, would their calipers fit on the CRV?
I've never noticed CRV wheels, are they the same five 5lug pattern in specific? PAT you have the cooless, random ideas, dude. ![]()

Im not sure of the caliper bracket holes on the crv, but if theyre the same spacing as integras and civic ex/em1/abs then yes to anything larger than dx calipers.
Hondas w/ 5lug are similar, if not identical spacing, so with the crv hubs (if this holds true) one would be able to support wheels from prelude, accord, crv, itr, and a plethora of aftermarket. Thanks LYNA! I actually try. (But really, I can't take credit for this.) I need to try to think of something new, now that Ive started to act on my hood latch popper. Plus, its better than actually thinking about school right now. |

Man...this used to come up on Mustang forums all the damn time. People would buy big $$$ kits from Baer or SSBC when all you really had to do was steal the fronts off of a Lincoln and then get 2 Ranger passenger side axles (since Rangers have an offset differential and the passenger side axle is the right length) and hardware (or but some 5 lug rotors, calipers, etc. if you wanted). The big plus for Mustangs is wheel selection. Most of the popular styles are 5-lug only. People claim it also adds structural integrity, but I'll let you know when I see a wheel sheer all 4 lugs off in normal (or even hard) driving. So I guess people in both circles waste their money.
