Tonight we had a huge group gather of friends where we all went to play some puttputt golf (yes..puttputt). we finish off the game and a few of us decide to go get some food up at the local Applebees. so 5 cars take off. we drove in a line the entire way which composed of a 01 Integra GSR, a nice 240sx (japanese engine, japanese front clip right side drive, and turboed), Me (the accord w00t), my friend in the golf, and a civic. well we're driving and the integra takes a wrong turn..halfwayy down the road I say ok their lost, I pull up next to the 240 and begin to ask him about where the hell we were going (and lemme tell you it's weird to be so close to someone while driving i <3 right side drive). ok so once we've come to the conclusion they had no idea where we were supposed to be going I downshift and fly up beside them and tell them that we're going the wrong way. we fall back into line and come to a uturn. Now mind you this is in an empty road, no houses, no cars, no people....empty 99.99%. so the integra turns, and then the 240 guns it and drifts around the turn completely sideways. I figure..hey what the hell I dont ever aggressively drive like this I'll give it a whirl. well somehow I managed to drift around the turn in 1st gear without pulling the ebrake. and it was a damn good feeling that i managed to swing her ass out like that somehow. the golf and the civic follow casually. well as we're are leaving this area i notice something in the rear view...blue and red lights flaring from a car with no headlights. and then i realize I'm fucked..we're fucked...god damn I'm dumb.
I try to pull intoa lot to make it easier but before i can this cop pulls up beside me and forces me into the shoulder of the road against a barrier. of course I'm saying "fucking stupid, what the fuck.." i turn my car off, turn on the interior lights and wait for the raping. the cop comes up to me and goes through it all "license...registration" as 4 more cops come flying lights on and blockign us in. The integra pulls into alot to wait and soon enough gets cornered in by a cop.
the cop goes my friend in the 240 and drills him for having a right side drive car, and not having a proper exhaust and bald tires. I'm scared shitless, cant think straight..choking...the cop comes back to me and says "soo...what's up?...whats your story man?"
so I say, "I'm terribly sorry sir, I downshifted into first gear which I wasn't especting to swing me around like that"
the cop shakes his head and smirks. "well tell you what, I got your friends side of the story and yours do me a favor and pull up next to that integra in the lot"
i do so and stop the car again. he comes up to me and begins to explain whats happening. "so have you ever been stopped for street racing?..been to Gandy (which is th elocal saturday races)." I say no of course "I normally don't pull shit like this on the streets"
he looks over his shoulders and leans down to me where I'm still shaking and says "look these guys want to take you and your buddy there to jail for street racing, but i talked them out of it. hey dude i know it's fun and drifting is cool but come on man, if you going to do it don't do it with me staring at you..ok?"
I'm in complete shock...he continues with "do you know what i can do for street racing...i technically should impound your car, arrest you, and fine you a lot of money.. I'm sure you dont want to lose your car because it is a very nice car by the way, right..ok here's your papers you can just go and park by your friends in the integra. and do me a favor and just be more cautious when you go to have fun make sure theirs no cops watching ya ok?"
again I'm shocked.."yes sir I'm very very sorry thank you thank you so much"
I pull over to my friends and just talk about what happened. the guy in the 240 gets drilled some more for having a nonregistered Right side drive and bad exhaust but only receives a $175 ticket for careless driving..
we continue to applebees and settle back down and have a grand ol time.

again i will say that I normally don't pull this kind of shit nor do I beleive in driving aggressively on the streets, normally. I was caught up in the fun and wasn't paying attention. i got off EXTREMELY lucky that a cool cop had my back.
I'm still freaked out

honestly I don't know, I turned that corner and as i came close to finishing the turn I gunned it and threw the wheel hard left, and low and behold i felt the back come out from behind me.. i guess because the accord is heavier, maybe the weight was the reason. either way I got off very lucky.

It was too much force for the rear tires too hold. Thats why you broke them lose.

well i figured that. still amazed that I was pulled over for "drifting" and those were the exact words he said to me
and got away without handcuffs on me

You didn't drift... you exectued a power slide. Drifting is under control; power sliding is not. You got lucky, not that you didn't get a ticket, but that you didn't crash.

It's simpyl because your tires lost traction, therefore causing them to slide out from under you.. I do it all the time with my car on snow..

man you speak as though I don't know how to control my car, she was under my control 100% of the slide. I cut the wheel hard left and gunned it up until 5k rpm and maintained it that that band until,my back end slid around behind me halfway through the turn. I shifted hard into second turning the wheel hard right and held it sideways before I pulled straight..no sway what so ever. So I wasn't any where near crashing my car. I've lost control of my car once in the rain and i know how that feels

PS - Powerslide - An American racing term for drifting that commonly refers to utilizing excessive horsepower to cause a loss of traction resulting in a drift.

I thought "powersliding" was moreso refered to with FWD. IE: eBrake.

yeah powersliding happens when you accelerate to a turn and at the moment you begin to turn you pull the ebrake which causes the back wheels to lose contact with the road and you steer through the turn.
but in my case i think i ended up doing something more like a dirt drop drift.

i hate cops....i got pulled over the other night....for illegal turn signals...there bright blue.....i did not know this lol....:o no ticket luckly..he didnt even seem to care...prolly bored and had a slow night
