So Im going to make some spacers
Spacers that would raise the spring perch on the koni's around .5" in the front and .25" in the rear.
So... Im going to buy a 10" tube section, and was curious as to whether I should use Aluminum (6061) or Stainless Steel (t304). The price difference is nearly 2x as much for stainless...but I think it would hold up better....specifically because I plan on making a 1" set for the winter. What do you guys think? Oh, the Dimensions of the tube are: OD - 1.900 ID - 1.610 Wall Diameter - 0.145 Id have to do some enlarging and grind out the lip too. |

sounds like you have some work to do, i would take it to a machine shop, cause i know i would screw them up!

oh and go for the stainless, they will hold up better than the alluminium

eh I think I can do it w/ a lot of patience and a lot of grinder bits
If not....time to head to the machine shop buddy I bought the 6061 Aluminum tubing from onlinemetals.com $5 for 10" is alright (changed order...leary about working w/ the stainless) |

why would you make a 1" set for the winter?
Do you lower your car MORE in the winter? Also why bother making them if it's just to get .25-.5" of travel extension... I don't think that will improve the shock performance much unless they're already the shocks designed to be on a lowered civic... in which case I don't think the .25-.5" will really affect their performance too much... Just my thoughts.

it has nothing to do w/ shock travel or performance
These arent spacers for the top-hat for shock travel...theyre for the spring perch to raise ride height slightly Borrowed from CivicLX H-T ![]() See the rear koni's have 3 spring perches...fronts have only 2. You can raise the ride by changing where the perch is w/ a circlip and ring combo. I am going to make taller rings to sit on the circlips to give me a slightly higher ride since I already use the highest (stock) perch and its too low...so .5" lift will work nicely. (I dont want the full 1" in the rear) |

I would have spent the coin on the stainless. From my experience with mentals, especially under load; stainless is nicer.

haha i just typed mentals, not medals. And you're right its harder to work with. Anywho, just remember that alu has a short life and you shoudl keep an eye on it.
