Sport Compact Article

I just got done reading the new sport compact car issue and they took a k24 block and mated it to a k20a2 (?) head i believe. Isn't this on the same idea as LS/VTEC?? which i thought was well shuned upon in terms of reliability/practicallity? I though that rod:stroke ratio's come into play with mis-madching heads etc.

they both have vtec
(read pg 205)

The k20 has the good vtec (more similar to bseries vtec)
The k24 has the weaker, less power oriented vtec (more similar to D series vtec)

This is more like a poor-man's type r mod than ls/crvtec or maybe a b20 block w/ ls head (w/ more aggresive cams)....I guess thats as close as you could say

I havent really read the article that closely (because I dont care about k's). But I'd suppose that this another one of those things that sounds cool until people start to do it and realize its not that great in the long run
