Rice????

do you guys think shaved door handles are rice, im not going for the show aspect, im going for the security aspect. plus i also planning to put manual door poppers, that when you turn the key (yes im leaving a specail key hole) it pops the door. plus has anyone installed a remote starter on a 5 speed? in the state of florida it is illegal, but what the hey!

i don't think they're rice, rice is a mindstate. actually my views on rice have now changed to this. rice=bad taste. see though, it's completely subjective as to what i believe is good or bad looking. lots of people say its something that is supposed to make a car look fast without it actually being fast...well with the exception of putting on fake emblems, that really isn't something that is possible since we all know that the appearance of a car has nothing to do with its performance. ok i've gone on too much about that part.

in terms of it being more secure, wouldn't you then have to pop the doors electronically by remote...if so then woulnd't it be easy to just short the electrical system and have the doors pop open? just a thought. ok i just read your post again. so no door handles just key holes? i think it'd look good if you could make it so that the key hole is either really hard to see or in a different spot on the car.

yeah, but i have so little sheetmeatl on my door, plus why put a different hole when i can patch and resuse the original hole.

the electrical thing: that is why i wanna do manual poppers, i open my friends doors allthe time by popping the (broken hood release, just hit the honda emblem up front) hood and grounding the system out. he hates that.

what about the remote starter has anyone put one on a five speed?

I think its pretty dumb...

Although...I have seen people take the rear handles off 4drs and put them on coupes/hatches to remove the keyhole. This looks functional, yet still as problematic if the keyless/battery dies and you gotta climb in through the trunk/hatch

its really a matter of opinion and the only one that should matter is yours.

do i think they are rice? no. on some cars tho it does look really bad. i like the Lexus IS300 that had the back two doors shaved. it almost looked like a 2dr.

what type of car are you shaving the handles?

its really up to you. if you like it do it.

easy way to see if you would is take a pic of your car load in photo shop and paint them out. boom you have a sample pic of the finish project.

I think it would look nice, but not be anymore secure than just leaving it alone. All it takes is a broken window, so i wouldnt worry about any level of door locking. Invest in a good alarm system, and thats about the most security youll ever get.

Like what was said before, you can take the rear handles from a sedan and they pop right in on a 4th gen hatch. Looks clean, and is even more subtle than getting rid of the whole thing...way cheaper too.
