My Aunt and Uncle do it on the side for weddings, and such. They make some pretty good cheese. I think it would be pretty fun, Id work with them if it wasnt such a drive to get down there. Depending on where you Tend at, you can make some mad cash.

I haven't.

My best friend has been bartending for a few years now, though. He's in a hick resort town in GA, though, so it's a little different than the average downtown bar kinda gig.

For him, he didn't need any bartending experience whatsoever. Of course we used to drink a lot, so he was already versed with a number of drinks, he learned the others on the spot. They don't do anything fancy like put on a little show while making it (can anybody say Coctail?), just a drink that tastes good.

I could see that in a higher pressure place like a downtown bar with a bigger crowd some schooling could be useful, but for a laid back small crowd bar I think you're probably fine without it.

I haven't had any bartending experience, but I would love to bartend. I was thinking of taking some classes. They always have ads in the employment section of the paper for bartending classes and they even help you with job placement. I haven't looked into it yet. I saw a guy on Fear Factor the other night whose occupation was performance bartending. (think Tom Cruise in Cocktail) I think that would be a lot of fun! Although I'd prefer do to it Coyote Ugly style. hehe

bartending is not a bad gig, but you do have to deal with some drunk a-holes. the money is not bad, if you get the right gig. Good Luck in what ever you do.

I did it for 5-6 months. One thing I couldn't stand was smellin like cigarette smoke after I was done. it was good $$ though. I didn't go to any school, we use to own a restaurant, now my cousin owns it and he let me work there on weekends.
