A couple of weeks ago I was at an Uncle Ed's Oil Shop getting my oil changed. They wanted to run their oil system cleaner through it. I was just wondering if anyone had any experience with it, like if its worth it or not?

i dont know if id EVER leave my car at a place called "uncle eds" lol... ever thought of changing the oil yourself? pretty easy/cheap

Yeah its like 75 bucks which seemed a bit steep. But yeah come to think of it they do spell it shoppe.

I have thought of changing my own oil since I've heard all kinds of horror stories about places changing oil. This one girl I went to high school with took her car into somewhere and when they were draining her oil they were like, "Wow this oil is really pink looking." Moments later they realized they were draining her transmission fluid. Whenever I get an oil change I habitually think of this story and cringe the whole time I'm there.

I'm just a few tools short of being able to change the oil myself. A few questions on that subject...what can I use to raise the car up a bit to get under there better? Also what do you catch the oil in and where do you bring the old oil? I know some auto parts stores have something for that, I just don't remember which ones.

you can get a decent jack for like 20 bucks... and i put it in a bucket.. adn then just dump it in the woods near my house.. dont worry im not poluting cause there is water in a stream that washes it away

i throw mine out in windshield washer bottles with the trash...screw the environment...it came from nature anyways...yay dinosaurs

I would never crawl under a car supported by just a jack. Find you a set of ramps or get some jack stands along with a jack. I have seen too many cars roll or fall off of jacks. Of course some of them were dummies who didnt know what they were doing.

get a drain bucket from autozone... the have screw caps so you can seal them for the drive to autozone or most any other parts store (if not ANY gas station that does oil changes HAS to take your oil)...

And I'd change oil with just a jack but I wouldn't recomend anyone else do it...

Oh and if you guys are serious about dumping oil (god I hope not)... you suck... take 10 mins. to avoid destroying the only planet we have even more than we already do. (A LOT MORE).

It's not cool to pollute. Just head back to an automotive shop and they'll gladly put it in a barrel for recycling.
