Might be buying a lude
Hi, I might be buying a prelude. I have a few questions though. If I'll be buying a Pre 97 prelude, what are the different models? Are there really just 2 models, the Si and the VTEC? Whats the difference in horsepower between these motors? Also, when did they start using the tiptronic automatics?
What kind of 1/4 mile times would I run with a stock 1995 Prelude with an AUTO tranny? Also, what speeds do they top out at? Thanks ![]() |

well for 97-01 were only vtec preludes, the regular ones and SH. the SH comes with leather and the triptronic tranny. both of the usdm lude engines are rated at 197hp. i think in japan the SH has 220. someone correct me if i'm wrong

well, if your looking to buy a prelude, learn to drive manual and find a VTEC. it is much better, you'd be looking at abou 15.0 1/4 mile times considering the car is in good shape and you can drive good. i'd stay away from a 96 because its obd2, and less responsive to mods. the 94-95's would be my personal sugestion. they have the most options, and the upgraded interior from the 92-93 years. the VTEC model never came in automatic for 4th gens, so at best your looking at maybe a 15.9-16.1 stock for a automatic SI.
