![]() I just got a set of 17" rims w/ 205 40/17 tires for my accord from my buddy that has a civic. I thought the tires looked a little small so I went to tires.com and realized that the overall diameter of what I got was too small. Is this going to matter?? I got the set for $200, so should I ride on them till I can get the correct tires or get my money back?

What is the recommended diameter?
If your car came stock with something similar to the 6th gen LX (195/65/15) then you're roughly 1.5" off, or 6% off on diameter. The biggest impact is that your speedo will be off. Having a smaller diameter tire will tell you you're going faster than the true speed. It'll also rack up the miles on the car (according to the odometer) a little bit faster. Other than that, as long as the tires are rated to carry the load of the Accord then there's no problem. Check the load capacity of the tires.... b |
