![]() hello everyone! Im new to all this performance add on stuff so I have lots of questions. I'll start off easy. I have a 2000 Accord ex 4 door sedan (vtech). just wondering if anyone can recommend a good cold air induction kit that doesnt make the car sound "tinny". Ive looked at injen and iceman kits. also how is forced air induction. I'll post more later. thanks for everyones time, lata'!

for a cold air intake I would go with the AEM or the Injen...Iceman intakes suck they tend to crack and have issues because they are plastic

Well, welcome, and to start you off on the right foot, its VTEC, not VTECH. As far as a cold air intake goes, I'd stick with AEM all the way.

thanks
thanks for the correction on the vtec thing. I think I'm going to go with the AEM cai kit. It seems to br one of the more popular and most cost effective. My next question is what kind of exhaust should I go with. I was thinking of just getting an aftermarket muffler, not a whole cat-back system. What does everyone think?
On the exhaust thing, I dont really want it loud but I would like some HP gain. Thanks again |

For exhaust, check out the thread that's a little lower on this page. Accord Man asked this, and many people have given advice. Go with a cat-back if you want performance gains. Good luck, and you'll love the AEM!

just another quick question. does a cat back system make the car sound as if you are driving a ride on lawnmower? I've actually hesitated getting the exhaust done due to that very tinny sound that I hear on so many cars around here. Just curious and I probably will not know until I put one on my car huh? Thanks again

Well, civics and tegs sound a little "tinny" sometimes due to the smaller displacement (I think), but Accords tend to sound a little deeper. A good cat back will sound MUCH better than a muffler IMHO.

AEM CAI is the way to go.
For the exhaust.. In most cases simply adding a muffler will result in more noise/sound, than the catback. Since you car is pretty new. If you dont care about hp gains, then you could go with just the muffler. Get something that sounds good, like remus.

borla mufflers/exhaust
what does everybody think of Borla mufflers? Do they suite honda's? My friend put one on his bmw z3 and I know there is a world of difference between these 2 cars. just wondering.
I actually liked the way it sounded on his car, and I'm sceptical about the sound on mine( if that is the way I go) |

does borla even make mufflers for honda's?!
Last time I checked, they made stuff only for the bigger displacement cars.

They have there borla boomers series mufflers, and they have started to make exhausts for some imports...not many though.

I'd really save up and get a full cat-back, or get a muffler and custom piping. Why spend the cash if you won't get performance out of it? Greddy, Tanabe, HKS, and Apex'i are all good brands.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() also, what is the engine life on an engine w/ an exhaust, CAI, and possibly some headers. does it put alot ( if any ) of strain on the engine?? ![]() ![]() |

The only way it will strain the engine more is if you hammer on it I believe for the most part, but remember, anytime your engine is making more power than stock, it puts more wear and tear on it. Just a negligable amount for I/H/E

Hmm... I know a site where you can search junkyards and I'm just not thinking of it. However, if you are looking to buy new OEM, check out www.manhonda.com
I'll get back to you with that site.
