Ghetto Dynamat 20x20 $3 per sheet
I have my hands on a pretty decent quantity of what I'm calling Ghetto Dynamat. This is a foam like material, but has similar dampening properties as dynamat.
They are in 20 x 20 sheets (roughly, they are actually a bit more) they are thin, about 1/16 of an inch (this is actually only a little less than dynamat original=.070) So you may need about 2 or 3 to acheive a good dampening effect. I haven't worked with it yet, but again my friend has already done the back of his prelude, and it added a big difference. color is white, and I doubt its paintable. to ship these, I'm going to see about big 20inch long cardboard tubes. My friends dad may also have a source for these as well. I may actually use 20x20 boxes, but I'm not sure yet. Price: a lot of people have been known to sell this material for 3 bucks a sheet. I think this is fair. of course shipping must also be added on. I am going to have to insist on money orders as method of payment, or cash at your own risk. Contact me first before sending payment, so I can make sure I have a medium to ship this stuff in, and also to tell me your location or po box so I can calc shipping and give you a full total. contact me at blind34_1@lycos.com or pm me, and well get set up. (first contact, first serve) Quantities are limited, but I can get more. I'll keep you aprised of the amount remaining. ( Price of dynamat original is 15 bucks for 2 10x10 sheets. here is the link: http://www.crutchfield.com/cgi-bin/S...0&I=15410115++ ) [ |

I'm thinking you could do one door using 5 sheets. you'd have to double up the layers , so if you wanted a single layer I think 2 and half will do it. I always end up using way more than I think. I used 12 sheets doing the inside of my dual sub box.
for your trunk I'd recommend a butt load of it. maybe 30 sheets. thats what I would estimate for my hatch, double layered. these are all guesses. and yeah I'll make you a deal, shipping'll be the worst though, I'll see what I can do. My friend is buying some off of me tomorrow for his trunk, so I can probably give you a more accurate idea of how much to use. he has a 94 saturn sl2, so that should be close to trunk and door sapce for your civic. |
