Camber Kits? Whats Really Good?

I have a civic with a 1.5' drop and 17 inch yokohama avid H4's. The wheels have only been on for 4 months and the inside of my front tires look like barbed wire! Somebody tell me whats really good with camber kits. Do they work, how they work and the prices.. I also heard that spacers are cheaper and do the same thing, does anyone have any experience with them. Let me know. Anybody that drives hard and low knows what I'm talking bout.

In my opinion, a camber kit is a camber kit. It doesn't give you performance as far as speed, so why pay so much for it. Just make sure that what you get has good bushings in them, and that's really all that I would look for man.
Camber kits do work. They will fix the degrees at which your tires sit. If not, then your problem will arise, and tire wear takes place. You can go on ebay and get some pretty good kits for some pretty good prices.

Bro, "no offense", but we aren't talking about cam gears, we are talking about a camber kit. It corrects the degrees that your tires sit at so you can minimize tire wear after lowering your car. OMG, this is so funny, but it's all good man, everyone has to start somewhere. Next time, I would read a little closer, or do a little homework before replying to a thread like that. It's all good though, no harm..no foul.

Naw homeboy don't feel stupid. We all make mistakes. I thank you for your imput on my situation. I thinking about changing my cams and cam gears anyway but i have to take care of this suspention prob. before I can do any thing. I don't want my tires to explode when I'm doing 122+.

good thing i read all your response

'cause man I thought you were nuts. no just kiddin Yep, cam gears do add hp...not exactly the amout you said but they do add some. However, if you throw in a new cam gear say from zex (what Im getting...eventually) then you will/should see the gains of 12-15. Just a gear...maybe 10; and i stress maybe. S'all good though. HP is HP is HP, and when it comes to a car thats all that matters...well that and torque...oh and reliablility...and lots of other stuff too. im shutting up now.

thats weird that your camber is that bad with only a 1.5" drop. i had a 1.8" drop for over 2yrs and rode on the same tires for those 2yrs and there was no uneven wear - no camber kit either.

anyways....washers from home depot for the rear.....oh yeah, that shit works. im sportin it
for the front.....sprint makes a swell kit, so does ingalls. up to you how much adjustment you need.

Yeah it's crazy but true. I drive my car really hard and used to go the hunts point every saturday. The reason I found out that the wears was so bad was because last week I pealed out from in front of my man's crib and he said he saw mad sparks comming from under the chassis. It was the steel treading from the inside of my front two rims. But I gonna go with the washers in the back because the wears not that bad back there ( and I'm bout to slam the back another .5'). Could you give me a little more info on the size you used? THANKX.

Honestly, the best thing that you can do is to get a professional to do it for you. If you have never done this sort of thing before, and you have never watched anyone do it, then you don't want to risk screwing things up just cause you wanted to save a few bucks. My motto is, "if you wanna do something, then do it right." I would get a pro to do it. Cutting the springs that you already have to lower the car can work if you do it right, but you might cut too much and be screwed, and I've seen that happen before. If you just want a permanent drop, then get a set of lowering springs, but if you want to adjust your height for like a show look, then get a set of coilovers. Ebay would be your best bet for that prolly if you don't wanna spend mucho mulla.

I really don't think cutting your springs is ever a good Idea. Granted your car won't exactly fall apart in a month, but down the road, you will only have trouble. besides you will never find any professional to cut your springs and Warrant thier work.

I don't recommend cutting the springs myself, but just saying that it will work if you do it right. I recommended the pro so that they would do the work right, and with the right parts. Honestly, I wouldn't at all even think about cutting the springs on my car.

i'm not into cutting springs. get a set of coilovers. it's cheap now. even the small time manufacturer like dropzone will work better than cut springs. there are so many cheap coilover nowadays man. try this:

Aight, thanks for all the feedback. Last question for all you people that are riding low. Do your wheels rub against the fender with the camber kit on? Some fool told me they did when you correct the camber on a dropped car but I'm not so sure. I'd like to hear from people with experience.

It depends on how far of a drop you have put on the car, how much weight you have in the car, and how fast you take turns with weight in the car. That's the only times that I've scrubbed. Putting four people in my dropped Honda sinks that bad boy on the tires!!

your problem is DEFINATLY an alignment. you don't need a camber kit when you only drop 1.5-1.7.

get it aligned and it will be fine.

get new tires though because if you drive on the screwed up ones and get it aligned it'll work itself out of alignment again.
