b16a1/2 total cost in a 92 LX
Right now my poor little d15 is burning about 1quart every thousand miles, i'm going to try a couple of low priced fix it's but if that doesn't work i'm not going to drop $1000 for my engine to be rebuilt when i could spend $1000 on a b16
let say i found a b16 for around $1000 i don't feel comfortable yet doing the swap myself so i'd take it to a shop but i'd like to have a rough idea of what to expect so that i don't crap myself if they give me a huge estimate or so that i know if i'm being ripped off what other extras are going to be needed for the swap, i allready know about engine mounts and axles and stuff.... how much extra is all that stuff going to be? thanks guys everyone in these forums kicks ass! it's great that people are willing to watch these posts and give out free advice.... it is free... right?!?!?! cause i need to save up for the b16 ![]() |

last i checked the engine ounts from a d toa b ran like 350-500 for the set. As for the labor, it should be a pretty easy thing as long as you get the tranny and ecu with the engine. I'm thinking maybe like 500 in labor, but i have no idea.

lol of course its free
![]() (Thats a nice deal b16a2 for $1000...what are the miles on it?) If I were you, Id head over to a place like www.jdmshit.com or www.jdmhondaparts.com and get the whole setup figured out. It will run you more but its a complete swap. Whatever you do dont tell me that the engine you found is on eGay! Having the swap done will run you into the thousand $ range, at least thats what one place by my house said it would cost me if they did it. |

Let me brake it down for ya. You shouldn't have to pay for engine mounts . Labor is gonna be between $350 and $600 shouldn't be more than that. You might want to chage the tranny too. If you get a complete engine make sure you get the shift linkage, motor mounts, ecu (very improtant if yoiu plan on seeing a difference in performance) and axles. If it's an b16a2 try to get a Obd1 ecu (b/c the one that comes with the b16a2 will be a ***** to wire to your obd1 wire harness). b16a1 run about $1200-$1500 and the b16a2's are between $2000-$2400 so good luck on finding one for that price.

since ur car is a 92 u may not be able to get a b16a1...due to the year the motor was made
also the b16a1 has a cable tranny while the b16a2 has a hydro tranny I've seen some b16a2's for 1800 plus S&H thats the cheapest "retail" price I've seen another option is the b18b which is around the same price or a crv motor...but thats harder to do and could probally end up costing a lot more |

You won't. Unless its stolen, busted in half or just the head. Get a B18C. That'll work best in your Sedan. If you want to boost it, look into the B18B. They are cheaper anyhow.

Adding a B series (coming from a D series) you will need to add a mount. Its the rear engine mount. Just FYI....
