Plans for engine swap and/or turbo...

Hey guys,

Ok, I'm getting serious about my plans for my car. I know I want to turbo, but I'm debating on my engine. I have a couple of questions:

1) My friend told me the a SOHC is better for turbo and DOHC is better for N/A. Is this true? I need to know so I can decide on whether or not to buy a B16 and rebuild it then turbo, or stay with my SOHC and rebuild/turbo.

2) How much hp is my D engine capable of? B16?

3) I might buy a header, which I know will be useless when I turbo, but it will do for now, are they compatible between my D engine and a B16? i.e. will it bolt up to both?

4) If anyone could give me prices on engines, rebuilding (and what to do for the rebuild), and turbo's, I would appreciate that greatly.

Thanks!

1)No its not true, the more HP you start out with the more you'll have in the end.
2)Depends on how much boost you run. The B16 will make more in the end.
3)I'm pretty sure it doesn't swap back and forth.
4)http://www.hondamotorsonline.com/sho...DM% 20Engines
Rebuilding an engine can get pretty costly, pistons like $500(plus labor), rods like $500(plus labor), sleeves 800-900installed.
But then it'll be rock solid capable of 20psi or more. A good turbo kit is about $3500 or so.

It all boils down to how serious you are, and how deep your pockets are.

anyone else? also how much boost can I run through a B16 stock intercooled? Would port/polish, new intake manifold, throttle body, etc have any effect on the amount of boost I can run?

you could run about 8psi on a stock b16, maybe more but thats the limit if you wanna be safe.

No those things wont really increase the amount of boost you can run, they will let the air get in the engine more efficiently which will increase HP a bit.
