I need to know how to get to my gauges because I want to paint the panel that holds the glass over them, change to reverse indiglo, and...im just curious. I know about the 2 screws above but it still sticks in there. Is there another screw somewhere? Or is it just a clip that I can yank on to release it? Oh, its a 97 Civic EX.

look for screws in the AC vents. i don't quite remember the interior in a civic, or look for them behind the buttons in the dash

man u prolly got another 8 screws to go.....well that was the situation in my car at least..look under the tape deck...vents...side of the center console...everywhere..

Are you sure? I've got a 97' EX and I only removed the two (I think) screws in the gauge cluster cover, then 4 more holding the entire gauge cluster. This should remove the entire gauge cluster from the car (after you unhook the electrical stuff). Maybe I'm thinking of the wrong part?

lol meh ..... i was close ..i never really counted...hey honda when ur taking ur dash apart.did u have to take the console around the shifter off too...i did cause i couldnt slide the dash part out (the part around all the controls,deck,etc.)

ok to get to your gauges in your you need to do the following:

1) Remove the 2 screws at the top of the cluster housing.
2) The cluster surround piece is held in by clips, strong, but with enough force it will come off... just be patient.
3) There are 4 gold screws around the cluster unit itself holding in the dash, take those out.
4) Unplug wire harnesses.
5) To remove plastic cover, just press in all the tabs along the edge of the cluster and it will come off (make sure you remove the cluster light from the top first)
6) Now you have access to your gauges.
7) Reverse the steps to re-install.
