98 civic door panels

when i was sawing out the basket shelf to fit in better speakers i noticed that there was a bunch of white plastic stuck to the inside of the door panel. this stuff vibrates like hell - is it there for any reason in particular? i assume its for waterproofing; has anybody removed it/replaced it with something that doesnt cause as much noise? dynamat is a last resort considering its quite expensive, if theres an alternative id like to hear it..

a friend of mine used Micro Jute (insulating carpet underlayment)on the floors in his car and an insulating spray foam on the doors. i'd say his was the cheapest i've seen a car done for, but the spray foam is messy as hell.

something else you might want to check out is a product called IceGuard. it's normally used as a roofing material, but is pretty much the same as commercial mats, except for the added asphalt material for water proofing.
