got a new toy

picked up a new toy today... very very happy all around.

fender telecaster natural ash finish, maple fret board. plays and sounds like a dream. im thinking of switching to a black pick gaurd, but thats a $40 part i can hold off on. i dare say i like it more than the les paul ive been screwing around on over the past few weeks. next step is a nice half stack, but the one i want im looking at no less than $600... boo

How long have you been playing? I have a Ibanez but i haven't touched it in a while. That guitar is nice!

Instruments tend to be very interesting when starting and most people will drop it within the first month....especially guitars because of the coolness factor that people see on TV, but once they're faced with the reality of having to work really really hard to be that "cool" with the guitar......goodbye

I love Fenders but the Tele was never a favorite of mine. It just feels weird to me when I hold one. Same with the Gibson SG. My brother's fiancee's dad (did ya follow that?) has about $30K-$40K worth of guitars in his basement and we always play together when I go over there. He's got 2 of everything (literally) and I've fallen in love with his ivory white American made Strat and an old Gretsch he's got. Those American made Strats with the lace pickups sound so fucking incedible no matter you play on them. All I've got is a Squire Strat (like I could afford a real one) and a classical string acoustic. My friend's got a '67 American made Jaguar that I might just steal one day.

i want a jag real bad! i actually almost bought a mustang but i didnt like the action on it so i wasnt going to get it, since this tele played much better. i agree with you on the SG's, i was kinda thinking of getting one, cause its a gibson and then had a nice natural black finish one for $700 at the shop, but it just didnt feel right in my hands and thats what i care about. i had a strat knock off and i have been using a squire strat at the garage/studio im practicing at since my old guitar is even more a piece (peavey preditor, strat knock off). i love the tone this tele has. its very blues rock sounding. my only complaint which is very minor in my eyes is on the top of the body on strats theres a cut away for your stomach/lower chest for when your sitting or standing to kinda fit you better, and mines a solid piece of wood... not a big deal but a difference i noticed.

oh ive been playing for 7-8 years on and off, and semi serious again the past 2 years, and over the past 2 months attempting to be real serious about it. i still think i have leaps and bounds to get to the level i want to be at, but ive notice playing with someone(drummer) 4-5 days a week has made me better in the past month than the last 2 years when re-teaching myself everying

I like the black a little better. Gives it a different sleeker look.

I still play my Ibanez RG once and a while.

I like the guitar though man. Good choice.

im not good... dont get me wrong. haha, its just playing and learning the fundementals, i practice scales and study chord charts, read music theory and i still think i suck. it just takes time and practice. playing with other people triples the effectivness of practice, remeber simple that sounds good is better than complex that sounds like crap.

I would rather sound really good and clean at guitar. Then choppy and sloppy. A lot of people think because your fast...your amazing...but it's not about how fast you can play.

I used to be a lot better than I am now. I haven't really played much at all in the past couple months. For a long time I was writing and playing everyday. Guess I just got sidetracked by school and moving and other bullshit. I actually used to be a lot better when I was fixing guitars at a place called The Music Stand for like $5 an hour and had access to all sorts of guitars/amos/pedals when we weren't busy. But that was when I was in high school.
