awesome 300ZX, but a question...

i've attached a link to this video i've had for a while. It is a beautiful 300ZX with a single turbo conversion running about 22psi. It sounds incredibly mean, but what is that sound it makes? Is it a different sounding BOV or what? It makes the noise on his first pass under the bridge, right when he shifts, so it must be the blow off valve, but I've never heard one sound like that. Can anyone shed some light here?

(And I have more of his videos if anyone wants em)

Download in progress, but my guess is that he has the wastegate vented to the atmosphere open instead of closed...

All I really heard was a BOV followed by a quick tire chirp. Other than that...nothing stood out.

I can't hear what you're talking about. Like others, all I hear is a BOV. =/

well yeah, the "pshhhh" of the BOV, but then the sound almost on top of that. Maybe it is a tire chirp, it kinda sounds like that, but it even makes that sound on the dyno:

this video is kinda big, a little over 12mb.

unless its also chirping on the dyno. Maybe it is, and I'm just a noob. I haven't seen too many videos of cars like this one, putting out that much power.

and yeah, i wish i had a 300, too. such beautiful cars, with the muscle to back it up.

Still sounds like tire chirp. Trust me...tires can bark on a dyno, too. That's why ya gotta strap the car down. You can see the rear end jump right when you hear the sound, too. That car's gotta be wicked fun to drive.

Well...making that kind of power, especially in such a small car, you're going to bark the tires on ever shift if you're on the throttle hard enough. Plus, the tires would only bark on the shift which is exactly when you'll hear the BOV.

Sounds like a BOV and a open wastegate. That's Ducky's professional opinion.

As far as the tires chirping on the dnyo, you cannot convince me that a 550hp car will spin them on a dyno. If you ever see the 'drum' on a dyno, they are almost always really rough for extra traction.
