Resetting your ECU after mods.
I read an article on superhonda, and they recommend resetting the ecu after each mod. Sounds like a good idea.

What exactly does "resetting" the ecu mean? Does it lower gas mileage? So even for my catback and intake I would have to reset the dam thing?

Resetting the ECU is easy. Simplest way...unhook the battery (both cables), turn key to "accessory on" position, leave for 15-20 minutes, reconnect battery, start car. This will basically force the computer to adapt to the changes made. Booyah.

"Accessory on" position is the one before turning your key to ignite the engine right? So doing this does lower your fuel economy right?

Well...not necessarily, no. What it does is drain all of the electricity from your car. Most importantly it drains all of the energy from the ECU so on the next start up your computer will recognize any changes made.

Heres what to do.
Go to your fuse box under the hood and take out the ecu fuse and the ecu bacup fuse and leave them out for a couple minutes and then put them back in and start the car and let it run for about 10minutes and dont touch the gas. In that time period you can reset your clock and radio adjustments!
