Just got promoted....

Well, I'm in the Army Reserve, and I just got back from drill. Just as I was leaving I got promoted to Private First Class (E-3) by the commander.

Anyway, just wanted to say that.

Can anyone explain powder-coating the engine/valve cover? something like that?

congrats on the promotion!

as for powdercoating, i've heard its rather pricey. I'm more inclined to give engine enamel a try. 4 dollar can of it, and if it doesnt work, any one of a million chemicals to remove it. worth a shot.

No.. powdercoating owns you. Its 1000 times more durable than paint and can look just as good. Some people are starting to powdercoat their ENTIRE car instead of painting it. But it's baked on at about 400* so if the part gets that hot in normal conditions you generally can't powdercoat it. They do have new hightemp powder coating though.. limited colors I believe though. Not expensive at all either. If you want it too look good powder it or paint it with pro equipment. If you want it to look like crap rattle can it.

In reply to the above:

I've been in a little over one year now. Went to boot camp at Ft. Knox and AIT at Ft. Gordon.

I've never heard of powder coating. I'll start a new thread on it
I guess.

Congrats on the promotion bro. Powdercoating is a lot more durable than paint is but is a lil more pricey.

Depends.. it's more pricey than rattle can paint, but not more pricey than pro paint. Downside is if it chips you can't repair it with powdercoat.. your best bet is to fix it with paint and see if it holds.
